Adirondack/Eagle Point
Overview
Eagle Point Campground offers a quintessential Adirondack experience along the western shore of Schroon Lake. As a facility managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, it emphasizes a natural wilderness atmosphere over commercial resort frills. The park provides a peaceful retreat where the scent of pine and the sounds of the water dominate the landscape. It serves as a primary gateway for travelers looking to immerse themselves in the rugged beauty of the northern woods while enjoying convenient lake access.
Location & Surroundings
Located in Pottersville, New York, the park is easily accessible from the Adirondack Northway while feeling remarkably secluded. The terrain is characterized by heavily wooded sites and a shoreline that offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and crystal-clear water. The park’s position on the southern end of Schroon Lake makes it an ideal base for exploring both the water and the nearby Pharaoh Lake Wilderness area, offering a dense canopy that provides privacy and shade for campers.
Amenities & Park Features
While the park offers a rustic experience, it provides essential comforts for RV travelers. The facility includes hot showers and flush toilets, ensuring a comfortable stay in the woods. Since there are no water or electric hookups at the individual sites, visitors typically rely on the central trailer dump station and water filling points. A highlight of the park is the sandy swimming beach and the concrete boat launch, which provide direct access to the nine-mile-long lake for motorized and non-motorized vessels alike.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Adventure seekers will find plenty to do just minutes from the campground. The Natural Stone Bridge and Caves, featuring the largest marble cave entrance in the eastern United States, is a must-visit local landmark located nearby. Hikers can challenge themselves on trails within the High Peaks region, while anglers can spend days fishing for lake trout and landlocked salmon. The nearby village of Schroon Lake offers charming shops and seasonal events that provide a nice contrast to the quiet of the woods.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for self-contained RVers who prioritize scenery and outdoor recreation over luxury amenities or high-speed connectivity. It is a perfect fit for families who enjoy traditional camping activities like swimming, paddling, and campfire cooking. If you are looking for a serene lakeside escape and do not mind dry camping in exchange for a deeper connection with nature, Eagle Point provides one of the most authentic Adirondack settings available.

Eagle Camp Ground in Pottersville, NY is an absolute gem! Our recent stay was fantastic, and we're already planning our return. We stayed on a site that was a slight hill, which wasn't a problem at all, and it offered us the most incredible perk: direct beach access! It was so convenient to walk right from our tent to the sandy shore of the lake. Speaking of the lake, it's truly beautiful. The water is clear, and the views are stunning. It's a perfect spot for swimming, kayaking, or just relaxing by the water's edge. The campground itself is meticulously maintained. The grounds were clean and well-kept, which made for a very pleasant experience. The bathrooms were also a highlight—they were cleaned often and were surprisingly spotless, a rarity at some campgrounds. The staff clearly takes great pride in keeping the facilities in top shape. Overall, Eagle Camp Ground is a wonderful place for a peaceful and scenic getaway. The combination of direct beach access, a beautiful lake, and clean facilities makes it a top-tier camping destination. We highly recommend it and can't wait to go back!

Beautiful camping spot on the lake. Staff members were helpful and accommodating. Surrounding area was very nice. NYS is beautiful in the summer.

So I have a site for two nights. It's 95° so I go down to the beach to chill for a couple hours. Come back to my site and my $80 camping chair is gone along with my kindling. They did not take the bin full of wood, probably too much to carry for a quick getaway. What the hell is wrong with people ? That's no reflection on the campground, hence the 4 stars.

NYS Campground on Schroon Lake. Beautiful. Some campsites are on the lake's shore. Other, are up above and you can see the lake. Mostly level campsites, but some of the entire campground is on a steep slope. Shower room was great!

The star of the show is the lakeside views...however that comes at a cost being next to the road with traffic noise. Might not be an issue with a well insulated RV...but tent camping will have you up early. Restrooms are clean.
