Situated in the heart of Akeley, the park is perfectly positioned for those who want to immerse themselves in the legendary Northwoods scenery. It is located conveniently off Highway 34, making it an easy stop for rigs of various sizes passing through the region. My sister booked a tenting site here a few days ago. We really loved it. Had the most amazing sunset ever over the lake. We were watching it while playing cards and eating dinner. Clean showers, bathrooms and check in was easy. Thanks for having us!

What about absolutely beautiful place to camp. We brought our SXSs to ride the Akeley trail system. Even though the place was fully booked - no issues with water or power. Being right on the lake? Beautiful. Will DEFINITELY be returning to this place.

What a wonderful surprise! This is a fantastic camping location, right on the Heartland Cycling Trail. We cycled to Walker and Park Rapids right from our campsite. All the campsites have mature pine trees and lakeshore. Many have docks but there’s also a large fishing pier. There’s a nice sandy beach and playground. The campground was quiet and sunsets were beautiful. The manager lives on site and is very friendly. They keep the restrooms, showers and public areas clean at all times. We had severe weather with a lot of rainfall that washed out some areas of the dirt roads but they were repaired the next morning. Excellent experience!

Kerri, the campground manger, is the who/what that makes this place great. We had a campsite right in the lake with a dock and a wonderful view of the sunset across the lake each evening. Kerri consistently went out of her way to ensure we were happy there from accommodating a request for extension of our reservation to seeing that we would not have to shift campsites to do that. She was wonderful in apprising all about the city leash lawn for dogs to reduce dog fights and help campers avoid being ticketed by the city for violations as the place was regularly patrolled. The campground campsites are clean, the showers are large, clean and have plenty of hot water, but have no heating or cooling. Kerri daily checked on campers present to ensure a very positive experience for their stay. We will definitely be back!

What a place! This campground is absolutely beautiful with sites running the length of the shoreline. The showers were fantastic. Each shower room was sizable and also included a toilet and sink. Kerri is the manager of the facility. She was so kind and helpful I enjoyed meeting her and chatting for a bit. She keeps that place super clean and stocked.
