Alabama Mud Park
Overview
Alabama Mud Park, commonly known as AMP, is a premier destination for off-road enthusiasts located in Troy, Alabama. Spanning over 800 acres of diverse terrain, this park offers a rugged escape for those who enjoy ATV and UTV adventures. The atmosphere is high-energy, particularly during scheduled event weekends when the grounds come alive with motorsports fans and large crowds. It is a dynamic place specifically built for getting dirty and enjoying the outdoors in a motorized, high-adrenaline fashion.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the heart of Pike County, the park is nestled within a rural landscape characterized by thick woods and the famous Alabama red clay. The location is easy to reach from Highway 231, making it accessible for travelers hauling heavy trailers or toy haulers. While the park feels secluded and immersive, it remains close enough to the city of Troy for convenient access to supplies and local dining. The natural southern pine forests provide a scenic backdrop for the extensive trail system that defines the property.
Amenities & Park Features
The amenities at Alabama Mud Park focus on supporting the off-road lifestyle and primitive camping experience. The park features dedicated RV parking areas that cater primarily to those bringing their own rigs for event weekends. While facilities are more rustic than a typical suburban resort, you will find essential features like a high-pressure wash station to clean off your machines after a day in the mud pits. There are basic restrooms and showers available to help campers clean up before retreating to their RVs, along with a concession stand that is typically active during major events.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
While the primary draw is the 800 acres of mud and trails, the surrounding area of Troy offers additional exploration for those taking a break from the pits. Visitors can visit the Pioneer Museum of Alabama to learn about local history through historic buildings and artifacts. For those who enjoy a mix of nature and education, the Troy University Arboretum offers peaceful walking trails and a variety of native plant species. These local spots provide a nice, quiet contrast to the fast-paced environment found within the park boundaries.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for motorsports enthusiasts and active families who travel with off-road vehicles in tow. It is best suited for RVers who prioritize adventure, engine noise, and outdoor activity over quiet, luxury resort amenities. If you enjoy a high-energy community atmosphere and do not mind the unique challenge of Alabama mud, this is the perfect destination. It is a destination specifically for those who want to spend their days on the trails and their nights sharing stories around a campfire with fellow riders.

Awesome owners and staff. Trails and campground were very well kept. Our cabin was clean and comfortable. We came for the Easter egg helicopter drop and had just as much fun as our kids!
