Located just a short drive from Port McNeill, BC, the park sits within a protected bay that looks out toward the Broughton Archipelago. The surroundings are defined by towering evergreens and the calm waters of the Pacific Northwest. The location is strategically positioned for those wanting to explore the northern tip of the island while remaining tucked away in a tranquil natural setting.

Amenities & Park Features

The park caters to a variety of travelers by offering full hookup RV sites as well as oceanfront dry camping for a more rustic experience. Practical needs are met with clean on-site laundry facilities and hot showers. Because the property includes a marina, it is a favorite for boaters, featuring a boat launch and fuel station. Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Adventure seekers will find plenty to do, as the park is minutes away from the historic village of Telegraph Cove. This area is famous for world-class whale watching tours where guests can spot orcas and humpback whales in their natural habitat. Additionally, the nearby ferry terminal in Port McNeill provides easy access to Alert Bay and Malcolm Island. For those who prefer staying on the water, the marina serves as an ideal starting point for guided fishing charters and multi-day kayaking expeditions.

This is a Drive Through review of the Alder Bay RV Park in Port McNeill, British Columbia. The Good: This is great location that gives you easy access to everything that the North Island has to offer, Sointula and Alert bay are a short ferry ride away, Probably 50-100 transient full service sites and 30 partial and tenting sites, Many water front view sites and the park is terraced well so most have some views, Showers, laundry and washrooms available A good store and food truck on site, Access to a marina, if you want to launch a boat and fish The Bad: Not much bad, Not much separation to the sites but they are larger than most commercial parks Believe it or not though the road in is paved it has many humps and dips so you need to be careful Can be a bit windy but that is a trade off for waterfront, Conclusion: This is one of my more favorite sites in the north island, it has everything you need, the office is easy to deal with, and the feel of the park is very positive, We rate this campsite a 9/10 as it has a great location on the waterfront and easy access to amenities in town Check out the video online…. We stayed in the little cabins up on the hill and it was a dream. I could have spent all day just sipping tea and watching the wildlife from the balcony. The view is absolutely incredible and the amenities are tough to beat!

Had the most amazing experience here at Alder Bay. The campground itself is very clean, dog friendly and has so many amenities such as showers and a laundry room! Definitely recommend this place for families. Trish and Dan were outstanding hosts and made our experience here more enjoyable.

Absolutely my new favorite camping spot on the island! The view is the die for, camping spots point right out to the ocean, saw a whale come right up near the beach. They have a cute little food truck, a nice long dock for fishing and boats, private individual clean showers, wifi and good cell service and the kindest staff. I will be back next year for sure. They also have whale watching tours thay leave right from the island as well as kayak tours and a fishing guide.

What an incredible seaside location. We had amazing views from our RV and enjoyed staring out across the water. The weather was rather chilly while we were here, but sat outside in our coats and looked at the fantastic - and quite late (9:30 pm) sunset from our grassy site. The power was very good here. We could easily run our air fryer without turning off everything else first. We recommend a meal at Roxy's, the on site food truck. They have really good chowder and burgers and it's nice to site on their deck with an adult beverage while enjoying a meal with the view. We didn't use the laundry or showers, but we took a peek and they looked very nice and clean. If and when we take another island road trip, I hope to stay here again.
