Alert Bay Campground

This campground is so great now. Many upgrades make it comfortable, safe and a good base for exploring Alert Bay. Unfortunately there aren’t views of the water, but the water isn’t far away. The washrooms are great, showers work well (bring loonies). Dominated by large trailers, but my tent fit in fine.

The bathrooms were very clean, I think someone came everyday to clean them and I saw people taking care of the landscaping and garbages. The only negative I could think of is that the sites are very close together and some of them have no privacy. But that wasn't a problem for us because we went during the week and it wasn't busy at all. Great location, close to town and right next to an ecological site with lots of trails. We stayed at tent site 21 which probably had the most privacy and a TON of shade which was great for rain & sun.

Really great front country camping! Located close to town but also very quiet. Lots of nearby trails to enjoy, clean bathrooms and all the normal stuff (picnic tables, fire pits, etc). Booking online was easy once we found the right link, we can’t wait to come back and explore further!

Convenient campground in the village of Alert Bay - an easy but uphill walk from the ferry and adjacent to the Ecological Park pathways. Prices are very reasonable and the washroom/shower block was well-maintained. Tent spots each include a picnic table and are a bit close together, but ample. Bring loonies for the shower, cash payment for the camp site, and remember to knock before you go into the washroom. There is a bit of traffic through the campsite for people just going to the Ecological Park, but nothing major. As of my visit, food options were still a bit limited, so best to stock up and plan on making your own meals. Would definitely camp here again.

Lovely campsite. Washrooms are very clean, flushing toilets, shower for a loonie, a real mirror! Things I get very excited about after a week on the road. Big points for the friendly caretaker, no stereos, and the trail system that leads to the right of the gazebo. No cougars, bears, skunks, squirrels and barely any mosquitoes
