Alice Lake Park

Overview

Alice Lake Provincial Park is a cherished destination nestled in the heart of the Sea-to-Sky Corridor. Known for its lush coastal rainforest and four calm freshwater lakes, this park offers a peaceful escape for RVers looking to immerse themselves in British Columbia's natural beauty. It serves as a gateway to mountain adventures while providing a serene atmosphere where the sound of the wind through the towering Douglas firs replaces the hum of city life. It is widely considered one of the most popular provincial parks in the region for its scenic landscapes and accessibility.

Location & Surroundings

Located just north of Squamish, BC, the park is perfectly situated between the vibrant city of Vancouver and the world-class slopes of Whistler. The surrounding landscape is defined by dramatic granite peaks and dense, moss-covered evergreen forests. Travelers will find themselves in the shadow of the mighty Stawamus Chief, with easy access to the rugged coastline of the Howe Sound. The proximity to Highway 99 makes it an accessible yet secluded stop for those navigating the famed Sea-to-Sky Highway through the Coast Mountains.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features 108 campsites, with 55 sites offering 30-amp electrical hookups specifically designed for RVs. While there are no individual sewer or water connections at the sites, several water taps and a convenient sani-station are available for guest use. The campground is well-equipped with heated shower buildings and flush toilets, ensuring a comfortable stay in the woods. Key features include:

  • Large playground and picnic areas.
  • Sandy beach and freshwater swimming areas.
  • Sani-dump station and potable water.

The campground layout provides a sense of privacy with sites tucked away among the trees, making it feel like a true wilderness retreat despite the proximity to town.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor recreation is the primary draw here, with the Four Lakes Trail offering a scenic six-kilometer loop perfect for hiking and trail running. Mountain bikers will find world-class terrain directly accessible from the park boundary, ranging from technical descents to flowy singletrack. Just a short drive away, visitors can explore the misty base of Shannon Falls or take the Sea to Sky Gondola for sweeping views of the fjord. The nearby town of Squamish also offers unique local dining and craft breweries for a post-adventure meal.

Who This Park Is Best For

Alice Lake is an ideal choice for active families and mountain bikers who prioritize immediate access to trails and freshwater swimming. Because it leans more toward a traditional provincial park experience rather than a luxury commercial resort, it is best for RVers who enjoy wooded privacy and partial hookups in a natural setting. It serves as a perfect home base for travelers wanting to explore the Adventure Capital of Canada while maintaining a quiet, forest-centered lifestyle during their stay.

We had been to the camping at this location. The park was so good and pleasant. The wash rooms were well maintained and always clean. 24 hours warm water facilities and warm showers. There are multiple trails around.

Alice Lake Provincial Park is an absolute gem of a destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Our recent camping trip there left us in awe of its natural beauty and the plethora of recreational opportunities it offers. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with the serenity of the surroundings. The towering trees and the tranquil lake make for a picturesque backdrop that takes your breath away. Our campsite was well-maintained, and the campfire under the starry sky was a perfect way to end the day. What really made our trip special was the family-friendly atmosphere. The kids had a blast exploring the area, and the availability of paddle boarding at the lake was a big hit. It's a fantastic way to enjoy the pristine waters and soak in the serene ambiance. Alice Lake Provincial Park is not just a place; it's an experience. It's a place where you can disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life and reconnect with nature and your loved ones. Whether you're an avid camper or just looking for a day of outdoor fun, this park has it all. It truly is a wonderful place, and we can't wait to return.

This is a beautiful lake that many many people go to. They have campsites but you really have to book early if you want to get in. There are lots of hikes in the area and it's a great spot to park for the day and trick through the beautiful forests. A lot of the post photographs that I posted with this review are the hike that goes around Alice Lake. If you enjoy hiking, this is definitely something you should do when you are there.

Alice Lake is a wonderful destination for families looking to enjoy some time outdoors not too far from Vancouver. The lake is located in a stunning setting, surrounded by trees and mountains, making it the perfect place to enjoy a variety of water activities during the summer months. Visitors can bring their own kayaks, paddleboards, and other watercraft to explore the lake and take in the beautiful scenery. The water is clean and clear, and there are plenty of areas for swimming and playing in the water. During the other seasons, Alice Lake is a great spot for picnicking and relaxing with family and friends. There are plenty of picnic tables and other amenities, making it easy to spend a day enjoying the outdoors. One of the only drawbacks to Alice Lake is the lack of parking during the summer months. The lot can fill up quickly, so it's best to arrive early or carpool if possible. However, the park is well-maintained and organized, with plenty of signage and helpful staff to guide you along the way. Overall, I highly recommend Alice Lake for anyone looking for a family-friendly outdoor experience not too far from Vancouver. Whether you're looking to enjoy water activities during the summer or picnicking and relaxing during the other seasons, this park has something for everyone. The stunning location and abundance of amenities make it a true gem in British Columbia's park system.
