Allison Lake
Overview
Allison Lake Provincial Park is a serene destination located just north of Princeton, BC. Nestled among rolling hills and open forests, this park offers a peaceful escape for RVers seeking a closer connection to nature. The park is particularly famous for its vibrant turquoise waters and the abundance of wildflowers that bloom in the early spring, creating a picturesque setting for a relaxing outdoor getaway away from the bustle of the city.
Location & Surroundings
Situated along Highway 5A, the park serves as a scenic gateway between the Merritt area and the Similkameen Valley. The landscape is characterized by stately Ponderosa pines and Douglas fir trees, providing ample shade and privacy for many of the campsites. The surrounding area is relatively quiet and feels secluded, making it an ideal spot for those who enjoy scenic mountain drives and high-country lake views that characterize the British Columbia interior.
Amenities & Park Features
As a provincial park, the focus here is on providing a rustic experience for visitors. The campground offers basic facilities, including well-maintained pit toilets and a hand pump for drinking water. Each site is equipped with a fire ring and a heavy-duty picnic table. While there are no hookups or sani-dumps available on-site, the spacious gravel layouts can accommodate various RV sizes and setups, provided you are fully prepared for a traditional dry camping experience.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The lake itself is the primary draw for visitors. It is an excellent spot for fishing for Rainbow Trout or taking a kayak out for a quiet morning paddle. Birdwatchers will delight in the local population of California Quail and various migrating waterfowl. For more adventure, the Kettle Valley Rail Trail is easily accessible in nearby Princeton, offering miles of cycling and hiking opportunities through historic landscapes and across impressive wooden trestle bridges.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an ideal fit for self-contained RV travelers who prioritize tranquility and natural beauty over modern resort luxuries. It is a fantastic choice for those looking for a scenic mid-journey stopover or a quiet weekend dedicated to fishing and relaxation. If you enjoy falling asleep to the subtle sounds of nature rather than the hum of a highway, this lakeside retreat is perfect for your travel style.

Crystal clear water and an amazing view. The beaches are whitemud or rocky but you have a hard time finding a nicer and more picturesque lake.

This is the most eye catching little lake ever. Stopped in on my travels and I will definitely be going back. Same name as mine too. There's a cute picnic area and parking with a bathroom. Across the street in the Camp ground.

This is an excellent Provincial Park nice little hike around the campground I didn't have time to do the trail because I was just doing a day trip but I so want to go back and Camp there and do the trails. The water is so clean and refreshing. Love that folks can take there boat there. I just wish there was either phone service or Internet service. I don't mind being off grid but I'd like to spend a week there and with that I'd have to have some sort of contact to the outside world because of work

In my opinion, this is the most beautiful lake in the area. Clear water with a teal tinge to it, the ability to fish, a rope swing around back of the lake. It also has a boat launch.
