Allison Point

RV Park

Overview

Overview

Allison Point in Valdez, Alaska, offers a quintessential Pacific Northwest coastal experience for those traveling with a recreational vehicle. This site serves as a rustic, dry camping destination rather than a full-service resort, prioritizing immediate proximity to the water and the rugged Chugach Mountains. It is an ideal spot for travelers who value scenery and direct access to marine life over luxury amenities and manicured grounds.

Location & Surroundings

Situated along the shore of Port Valdez, the park provides an incredible vantage point for ocean views and wildlife sightings. Located just a short drive from the main town center, the area is surrounded by deep fjords and lush, temperate rainforest environments. Travelers are often treated to the sight of sea otters and harbor seals just offshore, making it a perfect base for those who want to be fully immersed in the Alaskan wilderness.

Amenities & Park Features

Because it is a municipal site operated by the City of Valdez, Allison Point is designed for simplicity. You will find primitive gravel sites that accommodate various RV sizes, but it is important to note that there are no water, sewer, or electrical hookups available on-site. The park provides access to vault toilets, ensuring a basic level of convenience while maintaining a focus on self-contained camping for those equipped for off-grid stays.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw for visitors staying at this location is the incredible fishing access. During the salmon run, anglers find this spot to be a premier destination for casting lines directly from the shoreline. Beyond fishing, the park is a gateway to sightseeing tours in Valdez, including glacier cruises and sea kayaking adventures. The nearby harbor facilities and local trails offer endless opportunities to explore the unique maritime culture and geological wonders of the Prince William Sound.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is best suited for self-contained RV travelers who are well-prepared for dry camping and wish to prioritize location above all else. If you are an avid angler or a photographer seeking a quiet spot to capture the beauty of the Alaskan coastline, this destination is hard to beat. It appeals most to those who prefer a natural, unpretentious atmosphere and have the gear to support an independent wilderness camping experience.

Another great week dry camping here. Second time in 2 years. Stunning view. Black bear and harbor seals are sighted daily. Short drive to town for excursions, food, fuel, and shopping. Restroom facilities were near, but we never used them. Trash dumpsters near the restrooms.

Location is great for fishing, thats it. Camp sites are right off the road, no privacy. And no one cleans up after themselves so the sites are trashed

Pretty good little spot for free. Keep an eye on your gas tank. Someone came in the middle of the night and siphoned a half a tank out of our camper van.
