Location & Surroundings

The park is conveniently located along Highway 83, providing easy access to the town of Zapata while remaining close to the shores of Falcon Lake. The surrounding landscape is characterized by the arid beauty of the South Texas Brush Country, with wide-open skies and a warm, semi-arid climate. The layout ensures that guests are never far from local grocery stores, diners, and essential services required for a comfortable stay.

Anglers often spend their days on the water, while nature enthusiasts explore the nearby state park to spot rare bird species unique to the Rio Grande Valley. History buffs can visit the San Ygnacio Historic District, which showcases traditional sandstone architecture dating back to the 19th century. For those looking to explore, the local museums and proximity to the international bridge provide deep insight into the rich history of the borderlands.

Who This Park Is Best For

Amigo Inn & RV Park is an ideal match for avid anglers and birders looking for a functional home base near the water. Its quiet environment and community feel make it a top choice for retirees and seasonal travelers looking to escape the northern cold for several months at a time. It was a wonderful place. We stayed there from 2009 to 2023. We loved it, just had to give it up due to failing health. We .iss our Texas neighbors. Would drive down if it weren't such a long trip.

Doug, that manages the park is very nice and accommodating. We met numerous nice people staying at this park. It is a basic park with not a lot of extra amenities, or at least nothing fancy. It does appear to be well maintained. The big plus here is the pleasant and laid back atmosphere. Doug adds a lot to that.
