This is a really great campground. The owners are very nice. The campground is right by the lake and very clean washrooms. A great place to stay if you don't want to go down "the hill" to Bella Coola with your camper.

Awesome stay at Anahim Lake Resort! Ralph, the owner, was super friendly and accommodating. The campground is beautiful—right on the lake with stunning sunsets and daily bald eagle and pelican sightings. Great for kids with swings, shade, and a covered spot perfect for hanging a hammock. They offer 30 amp and 15 amp sites, picnic tables, water hookups, clean washrooms, showers, plus a washer and dryer. We even rented a boat for an hour and caught some beautiful trout. We loved our three nights here and would definitely come back!

Since 1987, the first year that I had one of the best experiences of my camping and fishing life by driving up from Tsawwassen to the beautifully nestled town in the Caribou/Chilcotin region in the Province of British Columbia, Canada with one of my best friends, Wes Froese, may he R.I.P. Along with us driving his pick up was his brother Jeff and nephew Jason. We left after work on a friday, if I have that correct, heading north into the interior. As the drive was running us pretty ragged after working we managed to get quite a ways up the twisting highways and the final highway, Highway 20 west of the city of Williams Lake. We pulled into a very scenic campground just a few kilometers west of Alexis Creek, Bull Canyon campground for the night. Since it being quite late and we didnt want to waste time we just crashed out in our vehicles rather than set up any tent of sorts, so we could hit the road early to push the last 200 or so kliks to this fabulous resort I was so excited to see and meet two of the best resort owners I would have the pleasure of getting to know down the road a few years later after this first expedition. That story some other time. As we arrived in Anahim Lake we stopped at the local store ACC Christensen store with the trademark quote above the entrance in big letters that read; "IF WE HAVENT GOT IT, THEN YOU DONT NEED IT". how amazingly fitting and true. welcome to the Chilcotin, a place that is as wild as the old west. From the village we travelled east then north across the world famous Dean River, passed the Stampede Grounds and heading out of town about 6 kms. along Christensen Rd. to a junction turning left (west) onto Reed Rd. approx. 2 kms. until you rise over a small hill with the ever slight descent into the open driveway thru the gate where lies the most incredible most scenic fishing resort Ive had pleasure to step foot onto. Now, after such a long drive, I was so awe struck every km. of the way the moment when I parked my truck and stepped out onto terra firma, i felt like I was in a dream. This place, this amazing breath taking resort was a reality of what hard work and time ,along with short summers, the best part was just moments away that just made it all worth the drive. we had walked into the office where we were greeted by a gentleman with the "million dollar smile", Jack Madsen and his very charming wife Anita Madsen. I had heard so much about them from my friend Wes and his awesome wonderful family, who were already there, and finally meeting the owners was truly a blessing for me. Our stay was brief at best a few days as we had planned to venture down the highway further taking on the dreaded and always dangerous "Freedom Road" , "The Hill", down into the Bella Coola Valley where we stayed at the Atnarko Campground. We did a bit of hiking went looking for Grizzly Bears, but to no avail. Not a one. Oh well since the other folks in the campground considered us a bunch of lunatics with such an adventure, probably better we didnt as the Grizzlies can be as big as truck and not really an animal we dared to tango with anyways. Getting back to the resort for the final part of my review here, this place has it all, 13 acres of the most scenic views from every inch on the property looking north east west and south. Surrounded by some of B.C's incredible mountain ranges it has to offer, the Coastal Range and Rainbow Range to the west, the Ulkatcho Mountains to the north, the Itcha Mountains to the North East, Kappan Mountain which is usually still blanketed with snow at its peak almost year round to the south and what I believe is the most incredible aspect of this gem of land it all is tightly tucked around guarding the West Chilcotin Plateau a jackpine desert as they say. It is by far the best trip one has the fortune to partake with the destination at this resort, worth every second of time. What can I say, great fishing, great resort, two amazing people. Thanks for the memories.
