We have stayed in a lot of KOA campgrounds and the KOA lake Hartwell has some of the friendliest and most helpful staff we have ever come across. This is a nice, simple and laid back campground with decent amenities and a great family atmosphere. Big enough sites that you can spread out and plenty of room for the kids to play. We will definitely go back.

Oh Boy! Where to begin. My family has met at the Anderson KOA 2 years in a row. Last year we thought, "Maybe they are having an off year". Not the case after this year. Have fun reading this. First of all, Ants, Ants, EVERYWHERE! Unfortunate and very annoying as they got everywhere and we have had to bomb all our trailers with ant killer. There were no handrails on the ramp going into the bath house. This proved very unsafe to the disabled family member in our group. There was also no working light outside the bath house, and the area was very dark to begin with. The bath house toilet did not flush well. Family members had to plunge the toilet many times prior to using the facilities. Disgusting!!!! The toilet lit also didn't stay up and my husband reported having to hold it up with his knee. Sorry if it is too much info. Being near the road was very noisy. Very noisy, especially when the trucks and motorcycles drove by. The access in the campground was very limited. Turns in the campground were very tight for large RVs. Our site had multiple small levels. Once it was dark, this was downright dangerous. I can't count how many times I tripped. We found the workers were polite and pleasant, but not Management staff. The management staff were rude, and we caught them lying to us. The first year, the pool was drained. OK, we thought, can't control when they have maintenance issues. But again, the pool was not in use this year. When I asked why the pool was closed 2 years in a row, I was told they had issues because people swim in the lack and then in the pool. She went on to say that they introduce bacteria causing problems. Try some chlorine! Another family was told that there is a SC law stipulating when the pool has to be closed. We looked it up. SC allows campgrounds to use their own discretion for the timing of closing pools. Big Fat Lie. They advertise a swimming pool. I cannot understand why KOA allows them to operate with such low standards. One family member was surprised at the cost of his site when we got there. It was much more than anticipated. He talked to the management and was told it was what it was. He was told because it was the only 50/30 amp site and if someone comes in needing 50 amp they would have to turn them away. He offered to move to a 30 amp site and was told he would still have to pay the full higher rate. Apparently, they cater to long term residence at a very low price and try to make their profit with the short-term campers. The long-term campers only pay $700 a month., but the family member mentioned above was paying almost $700 for a week. On one evening at the campfire, one of the staff members drove up in his golfcart asking about a car parked down the street. He literally drove at a high rate of speed within 2 feet of us with his headlights shining directly at us sitting at the fire. I had to yell "LIGHTS", 4 times before he said he had to find the switch. Then it took another 15 seconds for him to shut them off. The dryers only let you put $2.00 in at a time. You can't just add more coins to extend the drying time. You have to add the full $2.00. Last year the grill on our site had no propane. We asked for a refill and never got it. We didn't bother with the grill this year. The office and store had very limited open hours. The campground is too expensive for what you get. There are much better places with more amenities and lake access for less money. We will not be staying here ever again. And you should not either. Do your homework and you will be much happier. Oh, I forgot to mention the naked man who ran by our campsite. That was.... interesting. I give them 1/2 stars. Happy trails.

Debbie and Jerry were very helpful, one of the washing machines wasn't rinsing and spinning the clothes. They came and corrected the problem. I've enjoyed staying here and would highly recommend to anyone. Great staff, very friendly. Thank you

We have stayed at many KOAs across the United States and this one was great! I didn't use the shower house or bathrooms but I checked them out (of course) and they were SPOTLESS!!!! Our spot was easy to get to and pull through. It was shaded which for us was a huge win. We did have a minor water issue, due to our neighbors, but it was quickly fixed and we didn't even skip a beat. The only issue we had, but for us it was not a big deal and we did not report it - sorry, was the breaker on the power connect pole was going bad so when we ran an appliance (air fryer or electric skillet - not at the same time though) and our air conditioning, the breaker would trip. We just improvised and turned the air off while I cooked - again, no biggie but I would take a look at that. We loved the pool and our dogs LOVED the doggie park. Thank you for a great stay - we really appreciate it and would recommend your KOA to everyone!!!

Great Campground to stay with a family. Very well maintained, the landscaping is cute. The whole campground is free from trash or any junk. The bathrooms are very well kept. The pool is clean. The staff is the greatest. They held activities all weekend for the kids and us adults that are still kids at heart. Our two boys met some friends and they all had a great safe time roaming around the campground on “adventures” I can’t for the life of me understand how you couldn’t appreciate what this place is. Relaxing, Safe, Clean, and inexpensive. It’s a hidden gem and what your grandparents would’ve taken you to growing up for a long weekend getaway.

Staff are very helpful and friendly. We had a deluxe patio and a nice place to rest, sit by the fire and use the grill for dinner. Would definitely come back.

Honestly, after reading some of these reviews I have to say - your perception is often your reality. Either a couple of these people met an entirely different staff than we met or something is funny... So I'm going to share OUR experience :) Day one: we arrived after "check in" hours - so our check in paper was hanging with our name on it - on the door - we found our campsite and got set up for the night... The next morning we went to the office to "officially," check-in - the woman working was so sweet. She took the time to go over the map with us and to share some of the fun things to do/places to go in the area. She was kind and she was helpful. Honestly, every single worker that we encountered during our entire stay was incredibly kind. As far as the camp itself - The bathrooms were nice and clean. The laundry room was clean. The entire camp was clean. It is a smaller KOA - but it's a small area, so it's to be expected. My kids still had a blast. They had fun playing at the little park and they loved the big bounce pad. It's okay to not have a million and one activities going on and twenty different play sets/structures - kids don't need constant stimulation and something to do 24/7..it's okay to have your kids use their imaginations and just enjoy playing outside...you know, like the good old days. We honestly had the best time. We took a day and drove to diamond hill mine and dug for different crystals (I highly recommend doing this!) And we also spent a day hiking/seeing the waterfalls and stump house tunnel - neither were too far of a drive from the park and both were 10/10 I would recommend. Start a campfire, make some s'mores, laugh with your kids and have a good time! Thank you Anderson/Lake Hartwell KOA for a great couple of days. We had a blast!

we went in the office to ask general questions simply inquiring to use our camper for 5 months there.withen the first approach lady was very unwelcoming.as we asked questions only given rude Snyder answers by our 3rd she was so rude we walked out.if that's just the greeting then clearly not a nice place will gladly take my business elsewhere
