That Stupid Rv Show

This is a hidden gem if you are looking for a place close to Portland but still has a small town feel. The park hosts go above and beyond to make sure the stay is good and you are squared away. Great trails and things to do closeby!!

Great Hosts! Lovely grounds! I grew up here and moved away but come back every year to visit. I wouldn’t camp anywhere else unless I had to. To me it’s a little bit magical. Nehalem and Rock Creek converge and make a perfect place to get cooled off and enjoy soaking, swimming or floating in the cool clear water. I feel the hosts appreciate camp guests and are available for any questions or concerns. And it’s such a relief to see they are still hosting when I arrive each year. I appreciate the continuity and their genuine hospitality.

We love this park!! I camp every year for a week. The park host is very accommodating and even helped me exchange my propane tank. The park and restrooms are clean very clean. It's always quiet when time for bed and they make sure all dogs are on leashes. That's why I keep coming back! It's a jewel that I'd like to keep a secret so it doesn't become too busy!!

Unfortunately, this park was less of a camping spot and more of a mobile home park/Homeless encampment. We were in the back corner of the RV spots and surrounded by motorhomes that had clearly been there for a VERY long time and were being lived out of. Children's toys and garbage littered the whole area. The smells were terrible. Lots of stale cigarette smoke and hardcore drugs coming from the entire surrounding area. The playground was nice but full of very unruly and unsupervised kids. The fire pit for our spot was about five feet away from the window of a motorhome doing hard drugs. They clearly do not follow any of their own rules in this campground. I would not take a family here. We will not be visiting again. Don't expect privacy, a fire pit, or a safe camping experience.

Fishhawk Cycling Shop moved to Anderson RV park. Amazing park with everything you need. Now, even the e-bike shop. I liked Jeff, the owner of Fishhawk Cycles. He is very knowledgable, with a great sence of humor, expert not only of his e- bikes, but the bicycles in general, the full Banks-Vernonia trail, and a whole area around. Anderson park need folks and buisenesses like this.

Super nice and clean park. Camp hosts were incredibly friendly and thoughtful. I had low expectations and was very pleasantly surprised. This park is right in Vernonia and walking distance to everything you could need. Im looking forward to coming back.

This place was beautiful. The host, Brittney was very friendly. We definitely plan on going back. The only thing i didn't care for was, having to use quarters to pay for the shower.

Awesome camp hosts! So helpful! Won't meet a nicer couple! They helped set up a tent and jump start a dead battery! Fun time!

Me Plus a Million

5 Star Hosts Anderson Park tent camping: There are several spaces available. The spaces closest to the road are the most level but those spaces lack shade/coverage so pack a canopy. We loved our reception from hosts Brittney and Jeff. Brittney was so easy to work with over the phone and even more gracious in person. Brittney’s warm, attentive and helpful character make the experience as great as possible. I love that there is a hot shower available (bring quarters). It lasts about 5 minutes or so. There are several electrical outlets in the covered area. Potable water near the playground. A sink with hot water for clean up in the picnic area, as well as many picnic tables. This is a great park. If you don’t want to drive into absolute wilderness and like to have a couple of resources nearby. You can walk right from the campsite straight into town for food or supplies. There are no big stores. There’s a market & a couple of restaurants also a couple of good places to get coffee in the morning. After you get your coffee, you can pick up a bundle of firewood in town for $6 and bring it back to camp from a place just another block over from coffee and breakfast. All within a few blocks!! I have reviews for some of the food that we tried if you want to check those out. That seems to be a really popular place for people who like bicycles. There are stacks of firewood available on site for $10 a piece. There is no direct access to the river. I thought that the campsites, closer to the horse arena would be smelly, but when we were out there, I couldn’t smell a thing. Those spots are closest to the bathrooms, as far as tent camping goes. I took photos and numbered the sites, as well as I could without encroaching upon anyone’s privacy. This might help with selecting your site. In the future, I personally will reserve more than one spot. One for vehicle access, and the other one to set up on. (They run tandem).

Clean and quiet. However, absolutely no WiFi on more than half their sites, but “feel” free to sit out in front of the hosts site to use it. I work remotely and need WiFi. Won’t come back here.

We had a great time. The camp hosts are wonderful, the bathrooms are clean and it was in close proximity to everything in Vernonia and the Banks-Vernonia bike path. Awesome to walk to the fireworks from here on the 4th of July!

The host was knowledgeable about the area and was very friendly. Site 10 is in full sun. All sites were extremely close together. The truck from the site next to me was parked on the edge of my site. And cig and pot smoke was all around me as well as tv/music from other sites. And there was dog poop all over. even though the campground provides poop bags. The location is great because the bike trail passes through the park and the park is on a creek. And delicious restaurants and Pirate Bakery are a block away.
