Could be great, it’s not. Very buggy and dusty. Broken down buildings with litter and glass strewn about. Angeles NFS needs to do better here. Surprised this is acceptable on any level.

This cute campground could be great but it is very buggy from dirty vault toilets. I saw a family with kids come, put up their tent and canopy, then leave because of all the bugs. There is limited shade, dust, and rundown buildings with glass and trash littering the area. There is no way to pay, you need an adventure pass or America The Beautiful Pass. Even if you display prominently on rearview mirror as required, a surly man in a cowboy hat and NFS work maintenance vehicle will pull up in front of your car with no ID demanding to know how many days you are staying. Then he will walk around your car taking photos of all sides. The whole experience is beyond and I'm surprised NFS allows him to do this at all. It seems this must be some sort of intimidation tactic to keep campers out. The Angeles Forest needs to do better, add a pay station and get this campground into usable trash free state. There is a trail but someone is living in the Boy Scout Camp and their loose dogs are running around near the trail. Luckily they are friendly.

Really enjoyed staying at Oak Flat Campground. Great little Forest Service campground outside LA with fire pits, restrooms, and decent spacing between campsites. First come first serve, and the rangers seemed to check passes in the morning. Some campers come in late, but overall it is pretty quiet at the camps.

Great campsite close to LA with fire pits, grills, benches, tables, restrooms, and peace/quiet compared to LA. But, it's quite loud - even at night - due to the nearby freeway.

5$ per night, restful and beautiful. Perfect stop after or before the mess of LA. Pit toilets, no water, good for cans and small pop up trailers. NOT accessible to big rigs

reat campground for a stop — I was honestly exhausted and this place near Fresno was a perfect break. Camping options in California are pretty limited, but this one was affordable, clean, and well maintained. I think there were hook-ups, water access, and enough space to pitch a tent comfortably. It’s right next to a shooting range, but that didn’t really bother me. The view over the small lake at sunset was absolutely stunning. Booking through the government app was super easy — even though the interface isn’t amazing, it works. The drive there was beautiful too, with rolling yellow hills all along the way. Definitely recommend this spot.

A really nice place to stop for the night! Empty on a Sunday night in mid March and no bugs at the time. Site 5 is an easy back-in for a trailer or RV. Somewhere I read that the length limit is 21 feet but this site has much more space than that. Other sites are tighter right angles and looked less deep.

Nice and free campground (if you have an America The Beautiful card). First come, first serve. Beautiful live-oak-trees, quiet, clean campground, picnic tables, clean restrooms. You see the vehicle lights from the highway at night, but that's fine.

Love It.. I can catch a wi-fi signal. NICE FIRE PIT AND PICNIC TABLES.. ENCLOSED OUTHOUSES... LOTS OF TREES SO I WAS ABLE TO SLEEP IN MY .::Hammock::YEAH Played my VR games 😀 Looking forward to more fun days. Food and shopping only 5 Mike's down the road. Can hear I5 in the distance so not exactly silence but that's okay I made more noise...

I'm giving it 4 stars based on interaction with other campers. Friendly atmosphere. Restrooms were cleaner than I expected. Quiet remote place, nice breeze. Bring your food and water supplies. Overall, positive experience.

Supposed to be free but ranger wakes you up to tell you to go drive for an hour to buy a pass. Why can’t he just collect fees and issue passes like regular campgrounds?

Pretty good, pit toilets really are disgusting, some noise at night but really not bad. Tons of bugs though, make sure you have some sort of insect repellent.
