This place is one of my favorite places in California because of the amazing hike into the canyon. I love the dinosaurs nearby and the town feels like it was frozen in time. Very much old California and the Wild West. Plus you have the mountains that are snowcapped in the winter about half an hour away and the beach 2 hours away. Beautiful place to explore the desert and see wild sheep (borregos) if you are lucky! š

Off roading is a family favorite! We go a few times a year and use the showers and restroom provided by the park and tent or trailer camp. There is nothing better than waking up to the smell of a 2 stroke and the sound of fun!

Really stunning area with lots to explore. We focused on the sculptures during our visit, spent hours but still didn't explore all! Will be back for sure.

A very well maintained sprawling state park with tons of beautiful trails and serene desert campsites and well maintained bathrooms and a gorgeous visitor center! Be aware that most if not all trails from what I can tell do not allow dogs, even on leashes

Amazing park, a little off the beaten path but beautiful and with some free camping options. If Joshua Tree is booked or you have a little extra time itās worth a visit for sure. A nearby giant metal sculpture garden is whimsical!

Very beautiful park. It gets a 5/5 for beauty. The slot canyon trail was amazing and totally worth it. There are some serious issues with this park though. It has very limited signage. Every trail is difficult to find, with limited parking. There are hardly and bathrooms (some without doors), and unpaved roads. It was so frustrating. Another thing to keep in mind is that some of the pay-to-park spots only accept cash!

Great park! Lots of scenic views and very nice campgrounds! A beautiful state park for sure! The slot canyons were very pretty and the hikes are very scenic.

This was a blast! The park is super clean the bathrooms are super clean the showers are super clean. All around one of the best campsites I've stayed in a long time there's a sound ordinance from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. and for the most part it's super quiet. When the cloud dissipate there are so many stars and we were there for a meteor shower and we got to see about 5-10 per hour at about 2:00 in the morning. When the moon goes behind the mountains you can actually see a little bit more but for the most part they're faint so only the bigger ones really come across. Camp host was super awesome so we're all of the park rangers I came across. And anyone else we came across was pretty awesome picking up trash and throwing it away and just generally caring for the environment around them. It was a nice change of pace from being in the city everyday.

If you like the desert this is a must see. Bring your 4X4 for more adventures but not required as there is plenty to see without it. Perfect for star gazing so bring your telescope.
