This is a great campground and a great area! We stayed for one night in B066 on our Glacier and Icefields Parkway camper van vacation. The spot was very pretty with a wooded surrounding area and close to the lake. The only issue we had was being there during the government shutdown so it was a bit of a free for all with people coming in with no reservations and trying to take spots that were reserved. There was a couple vehicles in our spot when we arrived and we had to wait for them to return to get them to move. Not at all the parks fault though and no harm because we found a neat gift shop and Eddie’ Cafe, which was great food and service! I’d absolutely stay here again!

Nice campground and I really liked that there was an rv dump there and a place to fill up with water. I didn't like that you still had to get a pass for the Going To The Sun Road. Had I known that I would have stayed at a place with full RV hookups. For me it was also not convenient that we couldn't use a generator to cool the camper down at night. All in all it was good though.

I want to start by saying I blame this review on the sad state of our national park funding right now, not the wonderful staff doing their best at this campground. Bathrooms were very dirty, smelled horrible, and had no soap and often no toilet paper. One of the showers didn’t work well. Keep in mind there are 3 showers for all loops of this campground, so it’s a big hit to have one not be in great service. I loved our time in Glacier Park but the rangers and staff here need more resources and assistance. It’s sad to see

Great campsite, path to the village, close to Lake McDonald, bikes, skateboards and scooters friendly, my kids favorite campsite on our trip. We had group site 10 I think, no one around and quiet, if you get to close to the road you get a lot of traffic noise from people going to Road to the Sun. Avalanche lake hike was wonderful. Showers are fine, grungy, but fine. Bring a bucket or something to put your clean clothes and towel on and be prepared for a walk or drive if your not close. I took one shower and then opted to rinse off the other days in the lake. Cell reception mobile wasn't great.

Love the campground. Stay here every year when we come with family. The campground hosts are always great. The bathrooms and showers are awesome and usually pretty clean. There can be a wait for the showers but not to bad. Easy access to the lake, short walk into apgar village to get food, ice cream, or shop.

Great location with showers, bathrooms, and many campsites. Right near the lake and, with the town right near by, it was a perfect location for us. Everything was clean and the prices were low. Extremely safe campground as well. The park rangers were so sweet and checked in with us. It was a great way for us to experience the park.

I actually was a big fan of this campground, despite being the busiest in the park. What made the experience for me was the proximity to Apgar Village. There’s something so sweet and nostalgic about coming back to your campsite after a long day hiking and walking to go grab a burger and a souvenir before getting ice cream and watching the sunset on the lake, then sitting by the campfire until bed. The spots were pretty small and exposed but the location was a great base camp for the rest of the park. If you’re looking for your backcountry experience this is not going to be your place, but if you’re looking for a classic campground family vacation with some nice amenities, I would recommend.

This is our 1st time to GNP Love Apgar campground had spot# A63. They have several First come spots that fit large RVs. We did have to hike the 3 miles in,/ back from W.Glacier to secure a spot due to the Going to the sun road tickets. We're in a 38' class A with toad. It even has a shower in loop A 🚿 Also have RV dump and water. The ranger programs are wonderful. The view is epic 😲. We loved it here. Stayed 2 weeks and got to do some awesome sight seeing and hikes. One of the cleanest parks we've been to. No trash anywhere except where it belongs A++++++++ I think the ranger said only loop B is staying open after end of Sept as dry camp w/ vault toilets.

So here’s the process and some tips to secure a campground. Get their early in the morning at around 6-7am (especially during the weekends). Park your vehicles in the parking spot nearby the campground entrance as it’ll be closed for vehicles in the morning and you’d have to stand in the line. At around 8am, I believe, the rangers put up a board of the available campgrounds in each of the loops based on which you can plan where to go. They’ll allow 10 people in one batch to go and secure a campground. You’ll be walking to secure a campground. You’re given a yellow slip which you’d have to put up in front of the campground you wish to secure. There are small places where you can tag them. The rangers will explain all this process to you. Just make sure you get there early and park your vehicle in the parking spot rather than waiting in the vehicle near the entrance as you’d lose your spot when you go to park it out (atleast that’s what happened in our case). Overall the campground was very nice and quiet considering it’s size. The rangers were very friendly and helped us throughout the process. The showers are in the other end of loop A (in case you’re super inclined about them). I highly recommend this campground if you’re visiting glacier for the first time.

Everyone we came into contact with was SO helpful! Make sure to get the Going To the Sun Road entry pass so you don’t have to hike in to secure a spot. We got the pass so we were able to check the place out the night before coming early to snag a camping spot. Got there super early (6:30 am) and took just about 20 minutes to secure ourselves a nice spot for a few nights. Showers and bathrooms were great, very quiet and peaceful. Cannot recommend this place and those working enough!
