Very impressed how far they have come from such a devastating flood. Yes, they are still working on bathrooms and other amenities, but the sites are very good. New utilities. Good wifi. Peaceful setting. Only 10 miles from downtown. And most surprising of all: One of the few KOAs that doesn't overcharge. The price here is very reasonable. I would definitely come back.

It’s amazing that the camp ground was cleared of debris and reopened. The river side sites were nice to hear the water running and the campground was super quiet during quiet hours. The sites were a bit tight maybe because the ground sloped away from the gravel pad. We were 4” off side to side so we had to pull further toward the road, we just had enough room to park our tow vehicle. Everyone was super friendly that was staying near us and most had 1-2 dogs. Being it was November the pool was closed but the kids and dog parks were open. There was a food truck that we didn’t use but seemed pretty popular. I didn’t use the rest room or shower but from what I saw there was a bathroom trailer for 2-3 people to use. We did visit Stone Ashe Vineyard there was a good selection and the views were amazing. Overall a good experience I look forward to our next KOA experience.

Excellent Experience. My husband and I booked a 2 week stay and ended up staying for a month. Michelle (I hope that is correct ) was awesome at extending our stay (twice) and we so appreciate her for that. She could have easily told us there was no sites available but she was able to work her magic and we only had to move 1x on our 2nd extension. Great customer service for sure. Also a Big thank you to the 2 gentlemen who picked up our trash every single day! Nice guys for sure. The site we had initially for 3 of the 4 weeks was a pull through, I believe B22, very roomy with plenty of space between campers. Views were amazing! Pet Friendly, a pen to run off leash and plenty of open space to run on leash. I did not use the temporary facilities so I cannot speak on that. No laundry yet as they are rebuilding so we went down the street and did our laundry at a 24 hr place which was neat and clean. There is an Ingles grocery store a few miles away and a few fast food places. The whole town is still rebuilding but they have what you need. Will definitely stay again when we come to town.

Absolutely an amazing stay! My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and we loved every second! Beautiful campsites and even though the river isn’t safe to swim it’s still a beautiful sight ❤️ We’re so happy to see how they’ve rebuilt so far, definitely spend some time here on your next camping vacation. Tent sites are super cheap and have water and electric!!!! Bathrooms and showers extremely clean, hot water is HOTTT AND UNLIMITED!!!!!! Super dog friendly as well!!! We will be back! We love you WNC!!! #WNCStrong ❤️❤️❤️❤️

We were right on the river the night of THE storm and only survived because we were worried that night. The staff was not there that night, and apparently they all got fired for abandonning everyone. NOT GOOD ENOUGH! All the cabins washed away, and the office is actually gone. Even the large trees that were next to us were gone when we went back to see it after the one-year anniversary of Helene. I checked the river at 2:30am that night to see it already flowing to the cabins. A fire truck was lost in the front of the park, trying to find a downed tree blocking people in the back. He was lost in the wrong area. He thought I worked there. He said to hook up and get out! I asked what about the neighbors?! He was shocked to learn it wasn't evacuated already and told me to get out immediately! So we did! You have to demand more from these campgrounds. You can't make it so easy for them to just collect money. Nobody was there to greet us this time. Just the typical clipped map and name stuff. You'd think they would've set the system to flag a survivor of that night. You'd think after getting out of their with no help from the staff, an apology would've been in order. Nope. Nothing. It's just an easy-money automated system because people still pay $60+ per night for that. Well me, my wife, and kids survived a horrible natural disaster there, despite their attempts to let us all drown, and we will never be returning.
