As a state forest facility, the amenities are simple and functional. The park features spacious, wooded sites that can accommodate various RV sizes, though travelers should note there are no electric or water hookups. Visitors have access to vault toilets and hand-pumped well water. A convenient boat launch provides easy access to the lake for small watercraft, and several sites offer direct views of the water, allowing campers to enjoy the serene environment right from their doorstep.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Anglers frequently visit to catch rainbow and brown trout in the deep waters of Shupac Lake. Just a short distance away, the Au Sable River provides world-class fly fishing and paddling opportunities. For those who prefer land-based adventures, the nearby trails are perfect for hiking or exploring the extensive Michigan ORV trail system, which connects various parts of the state forest for motorized recreation.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for self-contained RVers who enjoy dry camping and want to escape the crowds of modern commercial parks. It is perfectly suited for paddlers, anglers, and nature photographers who appreciate quiet mornings on the water and the sounds of the forest at night. Tried to access from road which DNR map shows you directions , to discover its gated off and overgrown "road" to camp ground. Ended up at a different StF camp.

Landed here while kayaking this weekend. Be advised: all signage says NO CAMPING; seems like an oxymoron (Canoe Camp...but no camping allowed). Nevertheless, a pleasant place to stop, with water and an outhouse.

Absolutely beautiful! The view off the docks an landing are breath taking, Maybe get lucky enough to see wildlife cross the river, an or the trails. Fishing there is popular but it's catch n release. Can go camping at the river but you have to walk, along with you're camping gear, food, ect. down to the river. Has out-houses, an wells for water. Dog friendly. Huge spot, an mostly shaded. DNR maintenances mostly check on Sundays, unless if they're busy then it's every couple of days or so. Lots of wildlife an nature to enjoy!

Used their shuttle service, very friendly and accommodating to your needs. Highly recommend for some quiet time on the river.

Awesome river access, canoe/tent camping campground. If doing a overnight canoe trip, great place to camp out.
