Overview

Auto-Inn Motel & RV Park offers a practical and welcoming environment for travelers crossing the high plains of eastern Wyoming. As a family-owned establishment, this property provides a unique blend of classic motel hospitality alongside dedicated spaces for modern RVers. The atmosphere is quiet and unpretentious, making it a reliable choice for those who value a good night’s rest without the noise of larger commercial resorts. It serves as a functional home base for explorers looking to experience the rugged beauty of the region while enjoying the comforts of a well-maintained facility.

Location & Surroundings

Located in the charming town of Newcastle, Wyoming, the park sits at a strategic crossroads for Western travel. Known as the gateway to the Black Hills, the surrounding area features a mix of rolling prairies and pine-covered ridges. Its position along Highway 16 and Highway 85 ensures that the park is easy to find and provides effortless access for large rigs. Visitors can enjoy the small-town feel of Newcastle, which offers a peaceful contrast to the busier tourist hubs located just across the state line in South Dakota.

Amenities & Park Features

The RV portion of the property is designed with convenience in mind, featuring level sites that accommodate various vehicle sizes. Guests have access to full hookups including water, sewer, and electrical service to ensure a seamless stay. For those who need to stay connected, the park provides reliable wireless internet access throughout the grounds. On-site facilities also include clean restrooms and shower areas, which are essential for long-haul travelers. The combination of a motel on the same property means that groups traveling with non-RVing friends or family can stay close together.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Staying at Auto-Inn Motel & RV Park puts you within easy driving distance of some of the nation’s most iconic landmarks. A short trip to the north leads to the magnificent Devils Tower National Monument, while a drive east brings you into the heart of the Black Hills National Forest. Outdoor enthusiasts can spend their days hiking, fishing, or photography in the nearby canyons. Additionally, the park is an excellent staging point for day trips to Mount Rushmore National Memorial and the historic streets of Deadwood, allowing for a diverse Wyoming and South Dakota itinerary.

Stayed in the rv park for a few months to work. They were super friendly, and helpful. Full hookup sites. Wifi. There is on site laundry, bathrooms and showers. Usually pretty quiet. Lots of deer. Decent rates. They are pretty flexible.

Not sure why there was a comment about them being rude, they were anything but! Super accommodating, was ready to take us in even if they didn't have any rooms! The room we got was adorable and felt homey (not meaning outdated, because it wasnt.)If we ever have to stop in new castle no doubt this is where we'd be staying. As we only had to stop for the weather cause we were on bikes, I plan to stop and say hi at least. A little more info, this town is adorable! We stopped by the grocery store on the way out and the food there was so very good and they had so many more options for food (like cherry turn overs ) than our wal mart and this was 1/4 of the size. I also got coffee in the store as they had a coffee place. The worker suggest an upside down pineapple frap. I had him add a shot of espresso and perfection! Everyone was so nice and welcoming. Makes me want to take a vacation just to go there!! Thank you New Castle!

My friends and I camped here for a week in May 2023 to hunt turkey. The campground was as described. The bath house and laundry room were nice and clean. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. We saw quite a few travelers just passing through and staying for the night. We felt safe here. I will definitely stay again when I'm in the area.

Staff was polite and quick to check us in. The building is made of cinder blocks, so noise between rooms is not an issue. There is a little road noise but not terrible. Our AC was older and not digital, the dial said 55° but the room never got much colder than 75°. Bathroom fan didn't work, but everything else did. Overall not a bad place to stay.
