Baker's Narrows Park

Overview

Baker's Narrows Provincial Park offers a quintessential Northern Manitoba experience on the pristine shores of Lake Athapapuskow. Nestled within the rugged Precambrian Shield, the park serves as a gateway to the northern boreal forest. Travelers visit this destination to immerse themselves in a landscape defined by ancient rock outcroppings and deep, clear waters, providing a beautiful contrast to the southern prairies.

Location & Surroundings

Situated approximately 20 kilometers south of the mining community of Flin Flon, MB, the park is easily accessible yet feels profoundly remote. The surrounding area is characterized by a labyrinth of islands and waterways that make up one of the province's most celebrated lakes. The boreal forest canopy creates a secluded atmosphere where the sounds of loons and whispering pines dominate the sensory experience.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground provides a range of options including serviced electrical sites suitable for various RV sizes. On-site facilities are well-maintained to ensure a comfortable stay in the wilderness:

  • Modern washroom buildings with hot showers
  • A convenient boat launch for lake access
  • A scenic viewing tower for panoramic vistas

This variety of features ensures that even in a remote location, travelers have the essentials covered while enjoying the natural northern setting.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Fishing is a primary draw here, as the lake is famous for its trophy lake trout and walleye. For those who prefer land-based exploration, the Pine Ridge Trail offers a moderate hike through diverse terrain. Visitors can also head into the nearby town of Flin Flon to see the iconic Flinty statue or explore the unique local shops and historical sites that define this northern hub.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is a premier choice for dedicated anglers and nature photographers looking for untouched northern beauty. It is ideal for RVers who enjoy a rustic, outdoor-centric environment rather than a commercial resort setting. Families will find plenty of space for adventure, making it a perfect stop for those traversing the northern highways in search of a genuine wilderness retreat.

One of my favorite places to visit when up in Flin Flon. Bakers Narrows is beautiful, especially if you get a chance to catch the northern lights.

We love to stop and sit at the picnic tables for a break while out riding the motorcycle.
