Clean, quiet, peaceful, friendly... I stayed during week in off season in one of their cabins which was very spacious and comfortable. The bathhouse next door was well lit, very clean, multiple toilets and 4 showers with lots of hot water. The campground is near hiking trails, Bucksport, Fort Knox, lots of restaurants and entertainment.

Everyone was very kind, employees and other campers. The live band was great as were the campsites. We enjoyed the proximity to some good hiking and visiting Castine and Blue Hill. I love having full hookups at a campground, and everything went smoothly.

My husband and myself arrived on 8/5/25 on a warm, sunny day. This campground is large, and has a lot of site options including tent sites. We were assigned site #66 after having chosen #78, we did not pay the lock fee. However, the site we were given was very nice. The pull through sites immediately to the right after the office are generously sized! Full hookups, water, sewer and electric. There is no cable TV. They are correct in notifying the customer that their wifi service is not strong. We have a booster so were able to pull it in stronger when it was "needed". We got about 6 or 7 good over-the-air TV channels via our 5th wheel antenna. Neither us, nor the two other couples that journeyed with us to Balsam Cove, had very good cell phone reception either. Keep that in mind. I guess if one needed better wifi, I believe the signal is strong enough at the pavilion. We never felt the need to spend time there for wifi. Having the lake was an awesome amenity! We took full advantage of it. We never used the campground bathroom facilities as we have all that in our campers. We did have a look at them. They were clean enough, just a little dated. We would definitely go there again. So the 4 stars is simply for the lack of a decent campground wifi signal for this day and age. Otherwise, this is a very good campground!

We go there with a bunch of our family and we love it.The vibe is friendly and cozy. It is kid friendly they feel independent there just riding there bikes around and making up games. We definitely think peoples should go if they want a fun family trip.

Not everyone’s cup of tea. Very much focused on being a family campground but with nighttime activities and very dog friendly. Everyone we met was very nice and the dog park was a huge bonus, with every dog owner and non dog owners being respectful within the dog park and outside the park. We also relaxed some about our dog being barky protective as others had some the same way and everyone just shrugged it off. There were no issues with dogs barking constantly or in the middle of the night. Shower rooms are a bit of a shock. Not fully enclosed and not heated. Very clean though. My only real gripe is that the campground promotes music and other activities that go right up until quiet time at 10:00 p.m. While we respect quiet times, we are also early risers and would appreciate not being subjected to campground music blaring right up until 10p.m. It was good music though! Just can’t imagine how families with children deal with this and it was really difficult for us and our dog who usually are in bed by nine. I would suggest that the campground limit their own noise to 9pm to get wound up campers quieted down by 10:00. We won’t be back, but only because it’s not what we want for a camping experience.

Absolutely, jaw droppingly, horrible experience. Before I say anything else, the owner was a very nice women and I would've never guessed what was beyond the gate. Within 60 seconds of entering, I was rudely yelled at for going (6) miles an hour in a 5 mph zone. This happened again shortly after. Trump flags everywhere, what sort of campground would allow its guests to fly horrible political banners. Cigarette butts and bugs in the showers, rotted wood to step out onto. Overflowing trash bins, waking up to campers vomiting, sharp gravel tent sites on a slope. 0/5 a horrible mistake but an amusing story nonetheless.

Worst camp experience to date, while leash walking, poop scooping and following the rules, I was set upon by two different dogs in the road belonging to campers with loose pets. The campsite makes a big deal about how it’s a family place where they follow the rules. I had to alert the manager to enforce the leash policy on the other Campers and then later he came to threaten to evict me, I suppose to discourage me from complaining further. Drinking and swearing went on well into the night at nearby campsites, well, I stayed confined to my RV for my own safety. This is a seasonal regular place, packed in like sardines with a junky look. The only good thing I can say about it is that I checked out early three days out of nine and got half my money back.

We stayed at Balsam Cove for 3 months this Summer. We thoroughly enjoyed the campground while we were there. We had site 90, and I personally believe it's the best site there. Thanks to the trees there's plenty of privacy, and the park was quiet during the week. The events they had were a lot of fun, and the kids that were there truly enjoy the campground as well.

This is a really nice campground that is well kept and has a very friendly staff and clientele. We’ve enjoyed visiting family here several times. The food at the outdoor cafe is really good and affordable. We look forward to out next visit!

We camped in a tent at one of the sites! They keep the bath house and bathroom unit very clean, it’s an awesome space to use. It’s quiet and full of families and kids! We stayed there to go to Acadia, but it was a good central location, close to a grocery store and other food places. The staff was super friendly and treated us with respect!

How do I put into words the fun time I had her back in 2017? It's not easy, but I'll try. It was a weekend trip with my mom, my sister and my nephew, and my aunt and uncle were there too at a nearby campsite. The gentle yodeling of the loons was some of the most relaxing music I ever fell asleep to, and the next day my uncle cooked Puerto Rican chicken for dinner at his campsite. Saturday evening saw the hayride around the campground, and then came the time for the bonfire. Appropriately enough, "Girl On Fire" by Alicia Keys was playing as Justin lit the bonfire. Then somebody turned around and had "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry, and the dancing feet took over. I did get to talk to Justin later on and say "Thank you so much for a dynamite camping experience", and I was majorly bumming when we had to leave on Sunday morning. Man, I hope we get to go back this summer. That would be a real treat.

Made our week. All our needs were met. What a road trip station! Clean baths, forested sites and wifi everywhere.

Giving a 3 due to no enforcement of park rules. This is a good place, quiet, nice people. Biggest issue was the speeding. Everybody we saw speeding were seasonal as well. Such a shame. I know it’s hard to enforce rules like that with short staffing but a friendly reminder to your seasonal campers can’t hurt. Water pressure was pretty low. WiFi not very good. Cell signal not very good either (not the parks fault obviously). Overall we had a pleasant experience. Park is in a great location. Just please get your seasonal folks to slow down.

This campground impressed us with its clean cabin, clean restrooms, friendly staff and sense of community. Even though we only stayed three nights, everyone welcomed us and the staff were flexible and accommodating. (We checked in late, ran out of firewood, left a towel behind, etc. And there was a solution for everything). We normally prefer more secluded camping, but Balsam Cove was quiet at night and upbeat during the day and we really enjoyed our stay.
