the guy running the pro shop the evening of Oct 21, 2025 needs a lesson in customer service. I got there at 2:30 and asked if I could play. he seemed like it aggravated him that I would even ask. he said you can play nine holes. I asked if I could pay for 18 and if I wasn’t finished by 6:00 I would stop and bring the cart in. he said 6 means 6 and not 6:15. I understood that…but, it was his attitude toward me that was poor. I said I’ll just pay for 9 and see how much time I have r the turn. he said I had to play the back 9 because the front was crowded. I teed off and immediately came up on a group with 6 people. after two holes they let me play through. but there was two foursomes directly in front of them who did not let me through. I still made the turn at 4:30. I went in the pro shop and asked to pay the difference and play as much as possible if the front. I was sure I could finish well before 6. he said I guess, but you have to have cash. I said I do. it was 13.00 and I handed him a 20 and he refused to accept it because he had “already counted the money”. all he would have had to do was open his bag and give me 7.00 and stick in the 20. I said really? he said yep sorry. I was only trying to make the very most of a perfect day after work because there won’t be many more left this season. this guy’s attitude ruined what could have been a good afternoon of golf. I have worked at Dale hollow for 8 years in the past and this sort of service would not have been okay. I’ve never had a problem with anyone at barren river either until today. the new greens are great. the service is usually on par with what you would expect. today, I was made feel like he hated to see me come to play golf. he was hateful and standoffish from the start. I’m giving two stars because the greens are great. if not for the poor attitude from the guy working the pro shop I would have gladly given 5 stars.

We used the camp site past of the facility for our travel trailer. The bathrooms for the most part were generally clean. But the hot water and water pressure were lacking a lot. The sites were a bit tight and there was almost no shade. I think we even left a day early. Been to better to be honest and probably wouldn't consider going back unless it was the only option.

Stayed at the lodge for a wedding. Our door did not lock. Looks like the cops busted in recently. There was black mold on the ceiling and bugs everywhere in the room. There were cigarette butts all over the balcony. No microwave or mini-fridge. The room was also unchanged from 1971 other than a 20' flat screen. We got sick from the black mold and left a night early. The restaurant was actually decent.

Park is beautiful but the campground is a out dated. Mosty all the sites are very unlevel, not big rig friendly. There were very few sites in use. Bath houses were clean and nice. Laundry area was clean. This campground could be a money maker if the sites were level and wide so you could get your slides out and you weren't having to climb an embankment to get out of your RV.

Did not stay at the lodge but it looked very nice from outside. There seemed to be several cabins as well. The golf course was in really good shape considering how dry it has been. The greens were in good shape but very slow putting.

Me and my son drove up to check out this campgrounds. It was the worst campgrounds I've ever seen. Not 1 level campsite located anywhere. Most all sites was completely taken over and covered in moss and for water hookups you will need 50 to 75ft of hose. And the faucets are very old and outdated. I would say 90% of the fire rings where half destroyed moss covered and full of trash. Again 90% of campsites are so small and narrow there is hardly enough room to even put a 17ft camper into and definitely not enough to set up any chairs or Amenities. The shower houses where nasty. And the cleanup from storms and downs trees was not very well done. This place was very bad and not a place I would waist my time or money

Great campground. But...be sure to have a 50' hose for your water connection. Only 9 sites with sewer and 50/30 amp electric. Great pub and restaurant. Golf course looks good. The river is still VERY high so the marina and boat launch are closed.

We've eaten at the lodge and walked around the grounds and have swam at the beach (last year). All were beautiful, relaxing, and delicious. We just recently stayed at the campground. We stayed in the full hook-up section - which was very nice. There are a lot of trails to hike on. Sadly, due to recent flooding, some were closed temporarily. All in all - it's a beautiful place and well worth your time to come and relax, eat, camp, or whatever.

Didn't stay in room at park we got a air BNB but was there all weekend for a function and everything was great! Service,food,was clean and was enough staff around to answer any questions we had about what time lunch and dinner was,where this or that was. Was a great experience and definitely will be back next year!!

Rooms are maybe a little dated but clean and comfortable. I think all of them are either lakefront or lake view. We had a lower level room, but it had a screen door on the lake side, nice for when the weather is good. The lodge restaurant is good and there is a bar, but its hours are a mystery to me. The lake, er, reservoir is very pretty. We'll definitely be back.

The people who take care of the park do a good job of keeping it clean & well maintained. There's lots of beautiful scenery in that area if you just want to go for a drive. They have the lodge there with a restaurant that serves good food. There are some overnight accommodations that you can rent. Also, they have a marina if you need to launch a boat.

Beautiful place. Villas are very nice. Like with most parks, they've updated periodically so the place may look a little dated in some areas. but the experience overall was great. Can't wait to visit in a more scenic time with better weather. The rain kept us indoors.

Amazing park!! We stayed in one of the villas. Villas are big and has an amazing architecture. Wifi was super fast and also has good T-Mobile reception. It has gas fireplace but it is useless as the flames are small, I wish they had a normal wood fireplace. One of bathroom shower didn’t had hot water in it. Receptionist was cheerful and friendly. This park has less light pollution and is good for stargazing. I am planning to bring telescope for next visit in summer.
