Verified bed bugs at this location in the cabins. I worked in pest control professionally and very much looked directly at bed bugs at this base camp KOA. This isn’t a joke. Edit to the reader: The company waited one week to respond below - In that time, they failed to process a promised refund and cutoff communications. It was only when I went to hotels.com that this got processed. Now ask yourself - If this company cannot honor a legitimate refund, do you reallllllly think they’re managing pest control appropriately? I assure you, their next response is dishonorable. Continued: If they are in the cabins, they are in the shared spaces, and now they are with you reader. The cabins also have all of the signs - Look at the bed carefully for dark black spots in the nooks of the furniture - That is bed bug excretion from biting people. Or better yet, don’t go at all. I’m promising you right now this location has bed bugs and absolutely will not get fixed. I know because I literally have done this work professionally. To facility management: Diatomaceous earth is 1) ineffective, and 2) dangerous to human health. So applying it directly to the bedframes is actually just putting your patrons at further risk. It also means you 100% already know about the infestation. You MUST completely quarantine the site, pay for and apply professional heat treatment, and then completely clean and remodel the cabins. Just to be crystal clear - When I say site, I mean the entire campground and shared facilities. Even with the above, there’s still a chance. And we all know you aren’t paying for that.

BED BUGS!!!!!! Absolutely horrible!! If I could give 0 stars I would!! For starters cabin E for sure has bed bugs as of 7-11-2026! Place was covered in trash and there is zero privacy. Dogs are just running around off leash. Didn't deal with staff much. We checked the room before hand and didnt see any bugs. 4 hrs later we found two! So gross!! Please don't stay here!

Got a pull thru full hook up site. Water was so far away that I had to buy another hose. Site was to close to the highway. The site was also uneven. My elderly mother was having issues with the terrain. I got a bad site, they have way better ones. The store was lacking in basic camping necessities. So I gave it 4.5 easy fixes for the owner.

My recent stay met all of my needs and more. The facilities are clean and the new property managers/associates are friendly and professional compared the last time was here. My family and I had so much, we will be back.

This was a prefect little get away. The cabin was pretty clean. My only complain was there were a few spider egg sacks up in the ceiling and a few webs as well. Other than that it was good. Very easy check in and out. Mens bathroom was very clean. My wife said the women's bathroom had some hair in the sinks and shower. The general store has all you'd need to get you out of a jam. Close to Blackhawk and Idaho Springs. And a very easy drive up the mountain. It could have more to offer for a kids park. This place is dog friendly, that was also a plus! Great overall experience.

This is mine and my fiancée3rd time here We came for Valentine’s Day didn’t ask but our glamping cabin got upgraded to the same cabin we got engaged in and the staff knew about our story and bright us a complimentary bottle of champagne to celebrate our weekend. Burt at the front desk was absolutely amazing couldn’t recommend this place enough have never had a bad experience yet. First choice for camping every time highly recommend! 💯

Stayed in their glamping cottage for a single night and was really impressed. The public bathroom and the cabin were both spotless. It had a comfortable bed and a heater that kept the room cozy. The staff was really nice and helpful. Would definitely recommend!

Found this last minute and di not know what to expect. We rented a cabin. Great surprise, the place and people here are great!! The cabins were very clean with a great bed and heater. Bathrooms were VERY clean and the shower was good. Would recommend this place if you are in the area!

Dylan was awesome! He was extremely helpful and sweet. I usually stop at base camp on my way to work for some breakfast. Great place! 😁

Solid State Pinball Arcade

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years for our annual pinball campout, and almost every year something gets better. Last year we met Dylan, a new employee who was just learning the ropes but still made sure we had a great time. This year Dylan was in full effect and it showed! The camp store looks better than ever, everything ran smoothly, and we were well taken care of from start to finish. Honestly, this was probably the smoothest event we’ve had in all our years coming here. The bathrooms stayed very clean with no issues at all, which makes a big difference for a group event like ours. I arrived early and got the chance to meet the camp hosts, who were incredibly kind. I even invited them to come play pinball one night, and to my surprise they actually showed up! That says a lot about how welcoming and engaged the staff are. Every interaction I had with the team, whether at the camp store or just around the grounds, was warm, friendly, and genuine. It’s clear they care about making this a special place for guests. If you’re considering hosting an event or just want a short getaway, this campground is a hidden gem. Watching it grow and improve year after year has been a joy, and it’s easily my favorite vacation and event of the year. Can’t wait to come back next year!

We host a large event at this campground and have done so for the past 15 years. The entire staff have been wonderful to work with every year and are incredibly accommodating for such an unusual happening that we bring to their campground. I would like to pay a special thank you to the manager Dylan for working with us to make our event so special. We can be an unwieldy undertaking and he's helped to pull off the impossible and we are incredibly grateful. Thank you and much love to everyone at Base Camp!

A group of us stayed at Base Camp this past weekend as we were in the area for a sxs trip. Dylan was a friendly face that greeted us with excitement and an eagerness to pass on all that he knew about the campground. He listened and answered every question we had with expert knowledge and even took time to give us a tour and show us the amenities Base Camp offers. Our cabins were very clean and could hold up to 4 people. A fire pit, grill and picnic table were available for each cabin and we got plenty of use out of all of these. The bonus was the convenience store which was well stocked with snacks, meals, drinks and toiletries. We would absolutely stay here again and can’t wait to see Dylan, he’s a huge part of why we’ll choose to stay here again.

I was fortunate to find this treasure of a place by accident. My wife and I stayed here with our two Frenchies for a couple of weeks. We had a fantastic time. The manager Dylan was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Its a dog friendly park with clean amenities. The rv space was large and spacious. There were plenty of trees with shade. We seen a moose eating by our window. There is store that has everything you need or want- The laundry was a little pricey-i wish they would accept credit cards. Definitely recommend this place!!
