Beaver Dam Golf & RV Resort

Overview

Beaver Dam Golf & RV Resort offers a unique opportunity to stay directly on a professionally designed 18-hole golf course. Located in the rolling hills of Southern Alberta, this park provides a peaceful escape from the hustle of city life while maintaining modern conveniences. The resort creates a social yet relaxed atmosphere where the landscape of the par 71 course dictates the rhythm of the day, making it a premier destination for those who love to combine recreation with relaxation.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in the quiet hamlet of Madden, Alberta, the resort sits just 40 minutes north of Calgary. This location offers the perfect balance of rural tranquility and accessibility. Visitors are treated to wide-open prairie skies and views of the distant foothills. It serves as an excellent gateway for those looking to explore the Bow Valley region without the crowds found in more urbanized camping areas, providing a genuine sense of Alberta’s countryside charm.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features spacious sites equipped with full hookups, including both 30 and 50-amp power options to accommodate diverse rig sizes. Beyond the fairways, guests have access to the Dam Tavern, a full-service restaurant and licensed lounge that serves as the social heart of the community. Essential facilities include clean shower houses, laundry machines, and a well-stocked pro shop. The integrated golf experience means you are never more than a few steps away from a practice green or the first tee.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

While golf is the primary draw, the surrounding area is rich with activity. A short drive leads to the city of Calgary, where travelers can visit the Calgary Stampede or the world-class zoo. For nature lovers, the proximity to the Rocky Mountains allows for easy day trips to Kananaskis Country for hiking and fishing. Locally, the quiet rural roads around Madden are ideal for cycling or simply enjoying the unobstructed sunset views over the Alberta plains.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is an ideal match for active retirees and golf lovers who appreciate having manicured fairways at their doorstep. It also appeals strongly to seasonal campers looking for a consistent, friendly summer community. Families who prefer a quiet, structured environment over a high-energy playground will find the peaceful atmosphere and spacious rural setting perfectly suited for a long-term stay or a relaxing weekend getaway.

I would like to respond to the 5-star review posted by Annie Shilson. It’s important for readers to know that Annie and her husband are employees of Beaver Dam Golf & RV Resort, and Annie works in the RV office. Annie was aware of all the email communications between us and Beaver Dam Golf & RV Resort from August 23 to September 16, 2025. The General Manager, Kendall, approved the monthly rate for our three-month stay, and we have proof of this agreement. When we later requested to leave early and asked about a refund, Kendall informed us that we had two options: 1. Move to another site and stay until the end of our final month (October 14, 2025), or 2. Leave before the start of the last month (September 14–October 14, 2025) and receive a refund of $980.00 plus GST for that final month. Based on Kendall’s direction, we chose to leave early, with the understanding that the refund would be issued. We also asked Kendall to notify the RV office staff, including Annie, about this decision. After we had set up on site 132, Annie mentioned that she would have advised us not to park there due to errant golf balls. However, we were never warned of this risk before parking. When we raised the issue, Kendall responded, “You live on a golf course—what do you expect?” The cost to replace our motorhome windshield has been estimated between $2,000 and $3,500. Annie was fully aware of this situation but did not mention anything when I returned the key fob to her on September 6 at the RV office. I respectfully ask Annie to retract her comment suggesting that I was lying. The facts I have stated are supported by written correspondence and direct communication with Beaver Dam Golf & RV Resort’s management. I will continue to share the truth about how we were treated until we receive both an apology and the refund we were promised. Finally, I think it is fair to ask whether any other 5-star reviews were written by employees of Beaver Dam Golf & RV Resort.

I have to rebuke RT Shannon’s review, as I firsthand had experience with this person and his wife, aa they were my neighbour in the RV park. His wife repeatedly hit golf balls in her driving range net and hit 2 Trailers beside them. And they moved sites because she was yelled at for doing so by said neighbour. Kendall and RV staff worked very hard to make them comfortable and finding them a new spot to park their Motorhome. You cannot please all people and this couple fall into this category. As seasonal campers at Beaver Dam, we choose to be there. We pay a seasonal rate. There are no refunds after August because as Rvers you make a commitment to the park. Your life was never at risk, as it was your choice to move to that spot in the park. Please stop the lies and take responsibility for your own actions. You cannot post lies about an organization without proof. And I witnessed it all. Beaver Dam is not at fault. Truth hurts. Annie

Beaver Dam Golf Course is definitely a challenging course, but that’s part of what makes it so enjoyable. The layout keeps you on your toes with a mix of tight fairways, well-placed hazards, and tricky greens. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or still improving your game, it’s a fun and rewarding experience. The scenery adds to the charm, making each round feel like a mini adventure.

We stayed at the Beaver Dam Golf and RV Resort campground on our way to Alaska from the U.S., and it turned out to be a real highlight of the trip. The staff at both the golf course and campground were incredibly friendly (special shoutout to Annie) and went well beyond expectations with their service. The campground is clean and well-maintained, with nicely spaced sites (we were in 200) that gave us plenty of room to relax. There's also a laundry facility and propane fills available, which made things super convenient. The golf course was in great shape and a lot of fun to play. We also felt very welcomed by the other campers—everyone was so friendly, it made the stay even more enjoyable. As a bonus, we tried the cheddar smokies at the clubhouse based on a glowing review, and they absolutely lived up to the hype. Served on a hotdog bun, they’d be delicious anywhere—golf course or not.
