Bell 2 Lodge

Overview

Bell 2 Lodge offers a unique wilderness experience along the remote stretches of the Stewart-Cassiar Highway. Originally established as a basic roadside repair station in the 1970s, it has evolved into a premier wilderness resort that caters to travelers seeking comfort in the rugged British Columbia backcountry. This lodge serves as a vital staging point for northern adventurers, providing a refined and peaceful atmosphere in a region known for its raw, untouched landscapes.

Location & Surroundings

Located at kilometer 249 of Highway 37, the lodge is nestled deep within the Bell-Irving River valley. It is situated north of Meziadin Lake, surrounded by the dramatic and often snow-capped peaks of the Skeena Mountains. The geography here is defined by dense sub-alpine forests and glacier-fed waters, offering RV travelers a true sense of isolation and immersion in the heart of the Canadian wild.

Amenities & Park Features

The RV facilities at Bell 2 Lodge provide essential modern comforts in an otherwise isolated wilderness setting. The park features full hookup sites equipped with 30-amp electricity and water, alongside a convenient sani-dump station. On-site, visitors have access to a laundry facility and clean, private showers, which are highly valued amenities along this long highway stretch. The main lodge building also offers a cozy restaurant and a fuel station providing both gasoline and diesel.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will find a wealth of activities right at their doorstep, starting with world-class fishing for steelhead and salmon in the nearby Bell-Irving River. The surrounding wilderness is crisscrossed with hiking trails that offer stunning views of the surrounding glaciers and valleys. This area is also a hotspot for wildlife viewing, where it is common to see black bears or moose. Many guests use the lodge as a comfortable base before continuing their journey toward Stewart and Hyder to see the famous Bear Glacier.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for RVers who prioritize a secluded atmosphere without sacrificing high-quality services. It is perfectly suited for long-haul travelers navigating the Stewart-Cassiar Highway who need a reliable and comfortable stopover. If you prefer backcountry scenery and a lodge-style environment rather than a crowded commercial campground, Bell 2 Lodge is an excellent fit for your travel style.

The pictures can be misleading, so be careful. It looks like there’s a place in the garden where you can make a campfire, but it’s not allowed. It also seems like every room has a fireplace, but you’re not allowed to use it! They say it’s because winter hasn’t started yet—but it’s -2°C outside and snowing. Interestingly, the fireplace in the lobby was on, so I guess winter has arrived there. We didn’t even bother asking about the hot tub, not to ruin our mood further. The room didn’t get warm until midnight. Only half of the room had floor heating, and the carpets were freezing cold. We came all the way from Kitimat to celebrate our birthday there, but we couldn’t keep our promise to our kids about roasting marshmallows. Of course, there were good sides too: cleanliness was fine, the bed sheets were fresh, and everything looked nice—just the table hadn’t been cleaned, but we wiped it ourselves, so it wasn’t a big deal. The room was very new and beautifully designed. The staff were friendly, and the Americano in the lobby was actually better than Starbucks. There’s also a small market in the lobby with most essentials you might need, and the prices are reasonable. The mountain view is stunning, and the snow made it even more magical. With a few small improvements, this place could truly become an excellent resort.

Really spacious, nice looking room in log cabin divided into four rooms, two upstairs and two downstairs. There is a large shower, no bathtub. There's no TV but who needs one with a view like this! Coffee and breakfast was very good. I enjoyed the oxtail ragu bowl as well. I only wish the ran the sauna and jacuzzi in the summer months as well in the evening when it gets chilly. It would be a welcome addition, any time of year for a road weary traveller.

Beautiful location with lovely log chalets. Great wifi. The downside is that they are expensive and don't include breakfast. If you want to enjoy their buffet breakfast it's an additional 27cad per person and only runs from 7-8 am. They have a small cafe with limited options that is only open until 5:30 pm. No fridge or microwave in the room leaves little options for meals - plan ahead. Despite these shortcomings, we would still recommend

We stoped into the Bistro for an early lunch on a Sunday. The BLT was great! Greens were very fresh and aoili was awesome! The burgers great as well, veggies were fresh and buns tasted great. High quality ingredients all around. Service was quick and eating area was very clean. Toilet rooms were clean and staff was very friendly.

This is a review from many years ago (May 2013). I was traveling to Alaska, and I broke down 20 miles south of the lodge. I was lucky to encounter road workers who gave me a ride to the lodge. I spent a few days at the lodge and all I can say is that I am so blessed. My family and I were welcomed as if we were family, treated so well. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was beautiful regardless of the stress I had of not having a car, the staff was amazing and very understanding. When I managed to get my vehicle towed to the lodge, the manager was okay with me leaving it behind to get repair parts, which was almost a month. Long review, but I will never forget this beautiful place and wonderful staff for the help and support myself and my family received. I hope to someday go back and maybe tell this story again in person.
