Benbrook Lake - COE/Holiday Park

Overview

Holiday Park at Benbrook Lake offers a peaceful retreat managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Located just southwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, this park provides a scenic escape from urban life without sacrificing accessibility. Visitors are greeted by rolling Texas hills and expansive views of the water, making it a favorite for those who appreciate wide-open spaces and a quieter camping atmosphere than traditional commercial resorts. It is a well-maintained facility that blends natural beauty with essential comforts.

Location & Surroundings

Situated on the western shore of Benbrook Lake, the park is characterized by its mix of open prairie and wooded areas. The surroundings are dominated by the Clear Fork of the Trinity River, which feeds into the reservoir. Campers can enjoy the unique contrast of natural lakeshore beauty while remaining only a short drive from the conveniences of the city. The landscape is especially vibrant during the spring wildflower season, offering a serene backdrop for morning walks and bird watching along the water’s edge.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is well-equipped for modern RVers, featuring over 100 campsites with water and electric hookups. Many sites offer 50-amp service and level paved pads that accommodate larger rigs. Essential facilities include multiple boat ramps, a convenient dump station, and clean shower houses. For families, the developed picnic areas and playgrounds provide plenty of space for outdoor recreation. The park’s layout is designed to offer a sense of privacy, with sites typically spaced further apart than at typical private parks.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to do, from fishing for largemouth bass and crappie to exploring the extensive trail systems. The park is adjacent to several multi-use trails perfect for hiking, biking, or horseback riding. If you are looking for a change of pace, the Fort Worth Stockyards and the world-class Fort Worth Zoo are less than 20 miles away. This makes the park an ideal basecamp for exploring the rich culture and history of North Texas while returning to a quiet site at night.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal fit for nature-focused travelers and families who prefer a rustic, self-contained camping experience over a luxury resort vibe. It appeals specifically to budget-conscious RVers who value the affordability and reliability of COE managed facilities. Whether you are a local looking for a weekend getaway or a cross-country traveler needing a quiet spot near Fort Worth, Holiday Park provides a relaxing environment that emphasizes the beauty of the Texas outdoors.

Awesome campgrounds with plenty of space and shade. Great boat ramp and dock/parking. Lot #41 has a lot to offer and some amazing sunrise views 🌅 Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some peaceful camping 🏕

The grass is not cut, weeds are high, the trees are not trimmed to meet the height of RVs, the grounds are not kempt. There's debris from trees and some trash around the grounds. The fire ring is decades old and rusted half as tall. The only good thing is this isn't a well-used campground and it was quiet where we were parked.

This is one of our go to spots for camping in the metroplex - it’s quiet, scenic, and easy to get to. The facilities are kept clean and the staff working is always so friendly and helpful. We have visited twice now and will be planning more time here in the fall! Great spots for fishing, and a lot of the tent camping sites have lots of room where you don’t feel like your neighbors are breathing down your neck. We really love this place!
