We’ve been seasonal campers at Big Oaks Family Campground for about ten years, and honestly, the only good thing about this place is its location. That’s it. Everything else has gone downhill or was never good to begin with. The staff are, without question, the rudest people you’ll ever deal with in a business. They don’t care about you, your family, or your experience — only about your money. And it shows. We pay a lot for our seasonal site, yet we’re still charged $5 per person for any guest who visits — even if they’re just dropping something off or staying for five minutes. I’ve literally seen them chase people down on ATVs to collect that five dollars. If you talk at a normal volume past 10 p.m., they’ll come by shining flashlights in your face and telling you to be quiet. It’s absurd. The facilities are disgusting — the pool, the bathhouses, everything. I’ve only ever seen them clean the pool at the very beginning and end of the season. The bathrooms are full of spiderwebs, mosquitoes, broken tiles, and leaking pipes. It’s clear maintenance and cleanliness are not priorities here. They’ll kick you out at the drop of a hat, no discussion, no respect, no decency. After so many years of giving them our business, it’s painfully obvious that Big Oaks Family Campground does not care about its campers — only their wallets. Save yourself the frustration and find a place that actually values its guests.

The cabins are very dirty, there was food left in the refrigerator from whoever was there before, the a/c inside is extremely loud so we got no sleep, the staff is rude, confederate flags everywhere and I did not get a military discount despite being active duty. Checked out early and didn’t even bother asking for the money back for the second night. I just wanted out of that place.

Fantastic people who are very accommodating and friendly. Super clean and they have a general store at the office that has pretty much anything camping you need. And a Wawa half a mile down the road. Definitely my favorite spot for my Rehoboth trips from now on

Cash only… what a great find. Stayed here in July when every hotel in the area is absurdly expensive. $50 per night for a tent site including water and 15A outlets at every site. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Pool water was perfect. And… it’s just a short bus ride or bike ride to Rehoboth boardwalk!

I’m going to be fair. The confederate flags are very present. If that makes you uncomfortable, don’t book this place. My review is based on the site and the amenities. The staff were great and treated me very kindly. I appreciated that. The pool was nice, clean and not crowded. I camped with my family in a travel trailer, so I can’t speak to the cleanliness of the restrooms or showers. The sites were very close and didn’t leave much room for a fire or to use the picnic table. The ground was not level and it was all sandy dirt. We were camping though. As a black family, our experience wasn’t the best. The kids weren’t very comfortable leaving the trailer and I felt bad for exposing them to that by not reading the reviews first. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning to this establishment. If you’re not triggered by their symbolism, this is a good bargain for travel trailers and rv’s.

This is my 3rd time camping at Big Oaks. I would recommend this campground to anyone. I stayed in one of the cabins each time. They were very clean and spacious. I had family members stay in a tent on a campsite. The bath houses are also very nice and clean. Also the bus service from the campground to the beach is very convenient. I will definitely stay there again.

This campground was horrible. We arrived and we checked in. We had provided a ride for two who were not camping with us. Their ride had shown up even before we arrived. The check in person demanded I pay for two guests. I informed the person they were not staying and that their ride was waiting for them. I was forced to pay a fee for two extra people so I could get checked in. A few minutes later I was told that the driver of the two who ride with us had to pay a fee to pick them up. Needless to say the staff was very rude and informed the driver and the two who rode with us to never come back. Well we will never come back. I don’t recommend this campground again. We were not allowed guests without paying the extra fees no matter if they used their facilities or not.

Our stay at big oaks was okay. Cabins were not cleaned and the first night we were there my husband and I were sitting out on the porch talking, not being loud, talking in a normal voice and someone from the camp ground came and told us to be quiet. Mind you there was no one around us and we weren’t be loud. We had a baby sleeping inside so we wouldn’t take the chance of waking her up. Then everything was good until the end of the week when we went to pull our sheets off the bed and found two bed bugs. I was appalled and disgusted. Everyone knows once you find one there’s more. When we went to check out I told the ladies in the office and they didn’t seem the least bit concerned. This pissed me off even more. I know bed bugs can be anywhere but they acted like they didn’t care even though if we have them it’ll be my problem when i get home. I will NEVER be back to big oaks

We took our travel trailer for a week, and had all the comforts of being home. When we arrived we noticed the site had trash left behind from the previous campers. Also, at the designated area for trash drop offs, it was very full. Overall, the grounds keeping could improve and be updated. Our biggest concern was the laundry room, the fact that fellow campers have no etiquette saddens us. We had to wait for other campers to retrieve their completed wash, so we could use them. The small W/D should be updated. (For small loads it took two times to get our lightweight items dry. $2.50ea/$5.00.) Again housekeeping lacked in this area. We did not use any other services on site. We liked that local places we’re easy to access and didn’t take much time. They do have a nice location and glad it supports travel campers. We would try Big Oaks again keeping everything in mind.

The campsites were so cute and everyone we talked to was so nice. The staff were incredibly welcoming and definitely helped the atmosphere a ton. We went to the pool, the playground, and even the little shops and everything was amazing! We had a great and safe weekend (as 3 younger females) and would definitely recommend!

We stayed here for a week over the summer . I enjoyed seeing the confederate flags. Too many people easily offended and get their panties in a bunch over history . Like someone said it's privately owned and they can display any thing they like. Every one has an opinion. Most people never ask for it 😅

A nice place to stay near the beach but out of the hustle and bustle of the town. Shuffleboard is a nice feature. Bathhouse are a bit too sparse, so you have yo be aware of that when booking a site. The store is kind of strange and does not feel very welcoming. We spend most of our time at the beach when we come, and that's really the main reason we stay here.

Our family wanted to find a campground to build memories at. We are so glad we went to Big Oaks! Basically the last campground left in the area, the diamond still stands strong! We personally spoke to the owner and greatly appreciate his commitment and honor to his family’s history and business! The campground is clean, the bathrooms are individual and very nice with rain shower heads! There is a wicked pirate ship when you come in that the kids will love, and another for them to play on at the playground. The pool is clean and the staff is very friendly and incredibly helpful. Also, bring some bikes- there is a trail that takes you right to beach! It is gorgeous- and another awesome highlight of its location. The Saturday night DJ was awesome as well! Everything starts and ends on time. End of the day, this is a straight good old American camping experience! My family decided this is now our spot for the rest of our days for years to come!
