Birkenhead Lake Campground

Beautiful family friendly campground. The lake was warm enough to swim comfortably in early July. Mosquitos were there, but didn’t seem to be worse than other camping areas. Lots of bear warnings but we didn’t see any and we were told there was no chance we would encounter a grizzly. 2 of 3 hiking trails were closed due to damage from last year’s wildfires and the risk of unstable trees and debris. No cell service, so expect to disconnect and enjoy nature. The Birken House bakery was a nice spot for brunch on our way back home (open Sat-Sun).

We spent 2 nights and liked it. There was potable water available, toilets were "eh" and privacy in general is good. The Birkenhead Lake is a cold water lake and it is hard to find swimming chance but paddling and similar sports are fine. There was bear seen a few days before we were there so we were hesitant to use trails. Camp ground crew was so polite and helpful.

Beautiful clean campsite with trails and easy lake access. No cell service, was great to be offline among the mountains!

Beautiful lake with an awesome campground. Rangers are helpful and professional. We forgot something on the beach and then found it after asking the first ranger we saw. The lake is a bit cold but definitely good for swimming. Great for paddle boarding and star gazing. The 20 mins gravel road is well paved and you can reach there with any kind of car. There are lots of mosquitos and flies so go prepared. We had a great time and highly recommend this place.

Beautiful campground, nice big spaces with plenty of separation between sites. They only have pit toilets but they are plenty and clean. Beautiful, scenic area. With a pretty easy but dusty dirt road drive for the last 20 minutes of your journey. Goat mountain trail is challenging but definitely worth a hike. As expected the lake is cold but beautiful and clean. The only reason i gave this campground four stars instead of a well deserved 5 stars is because the kayak and canoe rentals is currently not in operation. We specifically checked before booking and nowhere on the park website was this announced. Unfortunately we didn’t bring any type of water craft with us since we expected to rent kayaks at the park. So if like us this is something that you are looking to do i advise you to call ahead and make sure that they have reopened the boat rentals.

Can't ask for much more from a campground. The spots are spacious and nicely spread apart, so you get a good amount of privacy pretty much wherever you are. All spots are within an easy walking distance of the breathtaking Birkenhead Lake. There is running, potable water here, along with outhouses, but no showers. You can also rent kayaks near the lake, but only during designated times. While all spots are FCFS starting in September, the campground maintains a group of FCFS spots year round, and you can typically find availability if you go during the week. There are overflow spots for when it gets really busy, although these lack the aforementioned privacy. From Pemberton town centre, this campground is about 55km with about 17km of those kilometres down a dirt road, though it is well-maintained. In my truck, it takes about an hour to the campground from Pemberton.
