Located just outside Florence, MT, this facility is known for its heavily wooded setting dominated by towering ponderosa pines. Unlike busy commercial parks, this site emphasizes a quiet connection with nature, making it a preferred stop for those who value tranquility and forest views over modern digital distractions. It serves as an excellent home base for exploring the rugged beauty of Western Montana.
Location & Surroundings
The park is situated at the base of the Bitterroot Mountains, offering easy access to high-altitude scenery and lush valley floors. The surrounding landscape is defined by the proximity to Bass Creek and the expansive Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. The environment is cool and shaded, providing a welcome respite during the warmer summer months. Its location near Florence allows for a short drive to local services while maintaining a feeling of total mountain seclusion that is hard to find in more developed regions.
Amenities & Park Features
As a traditional Forest Service site, the focus here is on essential services rather than luxury. The park features paved loop roads and parking pads that help level out the terrain for RVs and trailers. Visitors have access to clean vault toilets and potable water provided via shared hand pumps or spigots. Each individual campsite is outfitted with a heavy-duty picnic table and a designated fire ring. While there are no electrical or water hookups available, the spacious sites provide plenty of room for a comfortable dry-camping setup.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor recreation is the primary draw for visitors to this area. The Bass Creek Trailhead is located right at the campground, offering miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. For those who enjoy the water, the Bitterroot River is a short drive away, famous for its world-class fly fishing and scenic float trips. The area is also a hotspot for wildlife viewing, where it is common to spot deer, elk, and a variety of native bird species right from your campsite.
Who This Park Is Best For
This campground is ideal for the self-contained RVer who enjoys a rustic, back-to-basics lifestyle. It is a perfect fit for hikers and nature photographers who want to be steps away from wilderness trailheads. While the paved pads can accommodate various rig sizes, it is particularly well-suited for camper vans, truck campers, and mid-sized trailers. If you are looking for peace and quiet and a true forest immersion without the hum of nearby highway traffic, this is the place for you.

Nice quiet little campground. It's dry camping and water is available at spigot to fill containers and wash pans. There is one handicap site with electricity 20/30/50. Paved roads and sites. $15 per night $7.50 if you have senior pass. Electric site is an additional $5 per night. 1 mile south of Florence, MT.

We arrived mid week and found a nice pull through. Very quiet. Hiking trails close. Shopping and other needs near by.

I had a lovely spot With plenty of room, a fire pit, And a picnic table. My dog was allowed to join me. Everyone was very respectful to their neighbors and it was super quiet. And a beautiful view of the mountains and lots of nature to enjoy. I was in walking distance of a restroom, a trashcan and a water Spicket. While there are no showers, I have no rent bathing wipes, so that didn’t bother me. While you can see your neighbors, I felt like my site provided Privacy. I felt safe and no one really bothered me. It was a very enjoyable stay

Very nice campground - paved the whole way! Quiet location that feels removed from everything. However, a grocery store and other stores are within a very short drive.
