Reserved a tent site in late September, but we ended up leaving instead of staying the night. The bathroom was disgusting. The bugs were absolutely atrocious. I am an experienced camper and never have I experienced bugs like this (flies and no-see-ums). No privacy.

Furthest southern glacial lake in Iowa. 957 acres. Giant old trees! Boat ramp lots of picknick tables. Lake shore fishing spots everywhere!

Very nice campground. The lake is larger and allows ski boats, jet skis, etc., which makes for more traffic on the lake and more noise than some of the smaller lakes. Also, you can hear some highway traffic noise in the distance. Overall, it's clean, well maintained, awesome camp hosts, beautiful lake views with lots of trees, restroom and shower house is very clean and well stocked. Places like this are the reason we prefer to camp in Iowa instead of Nebraska. The showers are FREE, too! We were in site # 48, 9/18-9/22/2024.

We love Blackhawk state park! 1. The bathrooms are nice and clean which makes for a good camping trip 2. The city of Lake View is a great town to be in. It has all the amenities you would want in a small town (small grocery store, gas stations, Dollar General, 2 restaurants, and a delicious coffee shop). 3. The lake is busy but not over crowded. 4. The camping spots are pretty big! Last time we went however we were in a smaller spot so we’ve made note of some larger ones for next time! 5. The campground hosts are so friendly and helpful. Great campground only a few hours outside Omaha.
