Black Rock Canyon Campground is an excellent place for beginners to experience camping without being to remote from civilization. The campground is well kept and the park rangers are extremely helpful. Good restaurants and several markets are only a couple of miles away, so you do not need to rough it too much. I took my nephew here for his first experince camping and he loved it. Starwatching is awesome at this place!! Enjoy!!

We booked a camp spot there. Not the best one as we did not have any shade at all. You can park 2 cars and 2 tents. This campsite is not located inside Joshua Park but very close to the entrance gate (about 10minutes). This location offers easy access to easy hikes. The toilets are clean, no shower. RV damper is available. Fire pits and barbecue on each spot. Going back to Joshua tree, we would book a campsite directly inside the park. The hidden trail campground is perfect.

Amazing campsite. If you’re planning a trip to Joshua Tree this is the best campground to stay at. This camp sits at a higher elevation than the other campgrounds and is not as hot as the others. Every site has Joshua Trees surrounding it providing shade and a spectacular view. The rest rooms are flushing and where clean, there aren’t showers but they do have water available throughout the camp ground if you want to bring a solar shower set up.. Each site comes with a picnic table and a nice screened fire pit. Another great thing about this camp is that it’s right next to the town of Yucca Valley making it easy to find food and you also have good cell reception. Reminder to get up at night and take in the stars and get some pictures..

Located within the edge of the park, this campground has a good number of places to accommodate tents, rv’s and vans. With a couple of nice trails that depart from it, it’s also a great spot to warm up your hiking skills prior deep diving into the heart of Joshua Tree. A couple of toilets are available through the camp as well as water pumps. Each spot has a fire pit and a bbq for your personal usage. Last, a few grocery stores are a few miles distance in case you are missing things.

We stayed here for 3 nights in the middle of April. The weather was great and the hiking was wonderful. We did the eureka peak, westside loop and panorama loop trials. There were some flowering cactus of different species with pink red and white flowers. We stayed in campsite 75. Contrary to the site description we had no problem finding space for 1 large, 1 medium and 1 small tent with our two cars and a 13 ft popup placed over the picnic table. The bathrooms were close by and clean the water one space over with the visitor center a short walk.

I have been to many campgrounds and this one is top tier. They have bathrooms on site and they are VERY nice. Comparative to a grocery store bathroom - about 4 stalls, toilets that flush and 3 sinks. The camp site I stayed at was great and spacious for all of 5 of who were camping. Everyone around us was nice and just there for a great time. The sites are set up spaced out but also kind of close. It's like the perfect line between I have my own space but there's also another camp site right over there. So you have your own little world. Make sure to bring things that help items stay tethered/grounded because it is very windy during the day, yet it very calm at night. There are also multiple wash stations throughout to wash your dishes and whatnot. There are plenty of trails and photo ops nearby. My group found the trailhead and the sign said 37.5 mile trail with many loops and small trails in between for you to explore. I would absolutely come here again to see the beauty of Joshua Tree.

Decent for groups. Only two cars per site, but three tents. Get a few sites next to each other and you have a ton of space. Fire rings at each site, but bring your own grill for over fire cooking, some are broken. Flush Toilets Good water Great hiking No power Mediocre shade Amazing Joshua Trees!

This campground doesn't have the dramatic rocks in the campsites that Jumbo Rocks and Indian Choice do, but does have great shoes with a lot more Joshua Trees. Some of the sites are right on top of each other, so privacy isn't a guarantee, but it's available in some sites. Access to some really nice hiking trails from the campground, and certainly appreciate having easy access to water and flush toilets.

First time camping here but it was a great time. Reserved a spot online so all I had to do was show up at my designated camping spot. The spot I picked was nice and spacious, water was easily accessible as were the restrooms. We had a fire pit with a grill attached to it which was helpful as we didn't bring our own grill. Night time is amazing. I definitely recommend this campground. And as an added bonus, there is reception.

Venus and hoot owls welcome the day.
