We loved this campground! Lots of trails in the campground leading out to longer hikes, a nice camp store and inn/restaurant. Tent sites can be on the small side, but very nice, and there is a bear box to store food in. I highly recommend this place, especially if you have a few days to explore.

We have visited this campground for two years in a row and love it. Showers/bathroom are always convenient and clean, campsites are a nice size and not too close to one another, staff are very friendly and willing to answer any questions. There was lots of bear activity this year (we saw five) but staff was proactive in letting us know and keeping an eye out for bears. Also located close to so many lookouts and good hiking. I definitely plan to come back.

Pros: Mostly quiet, hot showers, heated bathroom, friendly and helpful staff, drinking water pumps, good value. Cons: some campsites are really small, close together, and could use some maintenance. Probably a staffing and budget issue which is understandable. They take bear precautions very seriously which isn't a con, but more of an fyi. Tip: don't camp in the areas closest to the parkway if you can help it. You will hear traffic from the road.

Beauty of this area is superb! Campground was a once in a lifetime experience for me of staying in an alpine environment. No mosquitos or humidity. Pure clean air and sunrise and sunsets you will be blessed to experience. Like staying in the heavens! I look forward to my next return camp thanks!

From tent spaces to RVs this little campground has 4 different loops of campsites. Showers, decent restrooms and good maintenance overall. Friendly and efficient staff and close proximity to several major hiking trails as well as the Pisgah inn and restaurant. Fire pit area and picnic table generally available at most sites. No hookups and no generators during late hours. There is an RV dump station on site.

Stay away! Leave it all for me! Great base camp but realize it is as close to off grid as it gets for a campground.

Beautiful campground, secluded sites, friendly staff. Definitely will return. You might be able to squeeze in for breakfast at the Pisgah Inn.

Beautiful, all facilities great except inadequate provisions for washing dishes. A simple but significant oversight, especially given that this campground has showers.

We try to visit this location every summer to get our mountain " fix"! Some sites are tight but they do have picnic tables and fire rings. No electric or water hook ups but they do have faucets to fill tanks before going to your site or filling water jugs! And it is right on the Blue Ridge Parkway!

This campground cannot be beat if hiking is your thing. It is on top of the mountain so you get an insane view every morning when you leave the campgrounds and the weather is always 8-10 degrees cooler than in the valley, this makes for incredibly comfortable weather. There are hiking trails that start in the campgrounds and you get a beautiful view of Pisgah mountain from the A loop. There are many amazing hikes close by too like Graveyard Fields and Balsam Knob. It is also only $20 a night and you can stay up to 30 days. So with as many first come first sites as they have you can easily extend you stay and explore the area!
