Bluewater Park in Wiarton, Ontario, is an absolute treasure that deserves every one of its five stars! Nestled along the breathtaking shores of Colpoy’s Bay, this park is a slice of paradise that captures the heart of Canada’s natural beauty. From the moment I arrived, I was swept away by the serene views of crystal-clear waters framed by the rugged limestone cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment. It’s the kind of place that makes you pause, breathe deeply, and feel grateful to be alive in such a stunning country. The park itself is a haven for families and adventurers alike. The playgrounds are perfect for little explorers, and the boardwalk along the shoreline offers a peaceful stroll with benches to soak in the tranquil scenery. I loved watching the sunset paint the bay in hues of pink and gold, a moment that felt like a gift from nature. The campground is impeccably maintained, with clean facilities and a cozy vibe that makes you feel right at home—whether you’re pitching a tent or parking an RV. And then there’s Wiarton Willie, the star of the show! This charming groundhog, Canada’s beloved weather prognosticator, adds a whimsical touch to the park. His statue stands proudly, inviting smiles and photo ops, while his nearby home is a reminder of the playful spirit of Wiarton’s community. Visiting during the Wiarton Willie Festival would be an absolute blast, but even on a quiet day, his presence brings a sense of joy and tradition that’s hard to resist. What truly sets Bluewater Park apart is how it embodies the warmth and wonder of Canada. The friendly locals, the pristine environment, and the sense of community make it feel like a postcard come to life. Whether you’re hiking the nearby Bruce Trail, enjoying a meal at Dockside Willie’s, or simply sitting by the water, you’re reminded of why Canada is so special—its ability to blend adventure, peace, and heartwarming charm. It may not have the tall Algonquin trees surrounding it, but it's a fantastic place to camp with family and friends. The washrooms are clean, and the waterfront view is really nice especially during sunrise and sunset with a campfire. Keep in mind that sites are not very private, so I'd suggest to accommodate to that by setting up cars and tents accordingly. There is also a trail that wraps around the shoreline that people take early in the morning and throughout the day; our tent has privacy, and we set up our cars and tent to accommodate to the path and it was just fine. The staff are extremely friendly, and their park wardens are really cool people to even have a quick chat with. There's a nice hiking trail, as well as quite a few small spots to fish. The water is clear so I'd suggest using fluorocarbon line or some sort of leader for anything other than topwater. We didn't get to bring a kayak the last time we were here but it's definitely coming on the next trip. Water is usually super calm, also very clean, and it seems like a great place to get the boat out. All in all, it's a very under-rated campground, and having visited over 10 provincial parks by now, this campground is still one that I'm happy coming back to visit. Hope it stays around for years to come so I can take my future children as well.

Real Mama Real Life

We spent 5 days there in July and it was our last family vacation ever (although we didn't know that at the time). The staff was wonderful, the view was spectacular, the site was large (although I do think we had the only sight that was like 2x bigger than the rest of them). The bay was GORGEOUS! We spent time in the water, as well as photographing it. It rained a great deal while we were there, but it was still amazing! We loved our trip!!! It was our first time staying at Bluewater Park but we found most of the fellow campers welcoming and helpful. We appreciated the environment and the welcoming from strangers! We had a wonderful time and my daughter LOVED it!! The bay was cold but so nice!!! And the park was right by the library, the Wiarton Willie Statue was right there AND you could WALK in to the town!!! Everything was so close!!! Grocery stores, LCBO and beer stores (if you drink), candy store, ice cream shops, restaurants & our FAVOURITE place to go The Painted Turtle! My daughter LOVED that store!!! Incredible experience and we will be back for sure!!!!

Great location, beautiful and cleanest lake! Nice trails and swimming spots.. very supportive and courteous staff. A must visit. Clean and well maintained bathrooms. Amazing Lake Views.

Quick visit to the area shows that this is a great place to take kids. Playground, water sprinklers, beach for sandcastles... Worth checking out!
