Bolado Park Event Center & Campground
Overview
Bolado Park Event Center & Campground serves as a versatile destination in the heart of San Benito County. Often recognized as the home of the San Benito County Fair, this site offers a spacious, park-like atmosphere that blends utility with the natural beauty of the California countryside. Unlike traditional high-density resorts, the campground provides a more relaxed, open-air experience perfect for those looking to escape the bustle of coastal cities. It acts as a gateway to the region’s agricultural roots and scenic landscapes.
Location & Surroundings
Situated just south of Hollister in the quiet community of Tres Pinos, the park is surrounded by rolling golden hills and mature oak trees. The setting is quintessentially rural, providing a peaceful backdrop that feels worlds away from the Silicon Valley. Travelers will appreciate the scenic drive along Highway 25, which leads through some of the state's most underrated ranch lands. The proximity to local orchards and vineyards adds a charming, rustic character to the entire stay.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground features sites that cater to a range of setups, including options with full hookups for modern RVs. Guests have access to basic necessities such as restrooms and showers, though the vibe remains more functional and unpretentious than a luxury resort. One of the standout features is the expansive fairground footprint, which allows for plenty of space between many sites. During non-event periods, the park offers a quiet, shaded retreat with picnic areas nestled under towering heritage oaks.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
One of the primary draws is the short drive to Pinnacles National Park, where visitors can explore unique rock formations and talus caves. For those interested in local culture, the town of Hollister offers historical charm and the nearby Leal Vineyards provide excellent wine-tasting opportunities. Golf enthusiasts can enjoy a round at the Bolado Park Golf Club located right across the street. This area is also a hub for road cycling and hiking, offering miles of quiet backroads to explore.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for travelers who prefer a no-frills, rustic environment over a manicured resort. It is a fantastic choice for those visiting the region for local equestrian events, fairs, or weddings. Because of its proximity to the national park, it serves as an excellent base camp for hikers and nature enthusiasts. If you value wide-open spaces, a quiet nighttime sky, and a convenient location for exploring San Benito County’s hidden gems, Bolado Park fits the bill perfectly.
