Perfect spot, close enough to Boone for convenience but far enough for views and no traffic. Tent camped here, grass spots for tents are large and have spot lights/electricity and water. Main office has a convenience store with anything you need and cheaper firewood then you’ll find in the area. Bathrooms are plenty clean, park is great for kids and plenty to do.

We have been here a few times, but first time in a 30 ft RV. First let me say that the location is very nice. Can be a tad hard to get to, specially for larger RV's. The RV sites are way too small. I had to get creative in order to get the rig out of the site when leaving. They may be pull-through, but it is very tight. Looks like they built this campground with camp site count in mind. And it shows. The staff were not particularly friendly. Hooking up the sewer was a challenge, as the sewer connection pipe coming out of the ground was cracked, and getting my hose coupling, which is using a treaded connection, didn't fit good at all. Was not really impressed with the fenced in area for dogs. Very small, and at a 30 degree slope. So there you have it. Probably not going back. just extremely crowded and tightly spaced sites.

Had a grassy back-in FHU site behind the office/store. Many pull-through FHU sites. Very friendly owners - we spent much time talking about long-term stays for summer heat relief. Lots of Floridians there long-term (we are also from FL). Bathrooms were very good. Checked out a number of other campgrounds within 20-30 minutes of Boone and this one was the best. Great library with books, music, DVDs, and games! Would seriously consider a return visit, especially to escape the FL summer heat and humidity! About 10 minutes north of town and quite a climb, but the temps were so comfortable in late August. Lots of good stores in Boone (which is a college town - Appalachian State) compared to most of the smaller towns in that area. Not much at the KOA for families compared to may other KOAs but certainly great for couples and retirees, which includes us.

A great getaway in the Boone area. Peaceful and relaxing place on a farm. Goats and donkeys to feed and watch. The small pond and surrounding cattle fields offer good views. I stayed in a deluxe cabin and it was perfect for me and my 2 dogs. Everything we needed with a nice porch to sip coffee on and read in the mornings while the pups watched the world go by. I highly recommend this KOA.

This is a nice, clean campground. Though the roads are a bit steep in areas, the sites, themselves, seem pretty level. The tent sites are spacious, and the cabins appear to be well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the other facilities are clean and well maintained. We've stayed here twice and because of the convenient location to downtown Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk, we're planning another stay soon.
