Boundary Creek
Overview
Boundary Creek Provincial Park offers a tranquil retreat for travelers navigating the Crowsnest Highway in the southern interior of British Columbia. Located just west of the town of Greenwood, this small but charming park is deeply rooted in the region's industrial past. It preserves a piece of regional history, as it sits on the site of a historic copper smelter that operated at the turn of the 20th century. Today, the park provides a peaceful environment where the sound of the flowing creek replaces the hum of highway traffic, making it a favorite for those seeking a natural rest stop during a long haul.
Location & Surroundings
The park is nestled in the Boundary Country region, a landscape characterized by rolling hills, dry grasslands, and dense woodlands. It sits directly alongside the banks of Boundary Creek, providing a cooling influence and a scenic backdrop for every campsite. Being just minutes away from Greenwood, visitors have easy access to the unique charm and services of Canada's smallest city. The surrounding landscape is a blend of mining heritage and lush greenery, offering a sense of seclusion and historical curiosity despite its convenient proximity to the main travel route.
Amenities & Park Features
As a provincial park, the facilities at Boundary Creek lean toward a rustic camping experience rather than a full-service resort. There are approximately 16 vehicle-accessible campsites available, primarily on a first-come, first-served basis. You will find essential amenities including pit toilets and hand-pumped water, though travelers are encouraged to bring their own potable supply for drinking. Each site is equipped with a sturdy picnic table and a fire ring, perfect for a traditional campfire. There are no electrical, water, or sewer hookups, making the park most suitable for self-contained RVs or those who enjoy dry camping.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the direct access to the Trans-Canada Trail, which is perfect for cycling and hiking through the scenic valley. Exploring the heritage buildings of Greenwood is a highlight, where you can see the iconic smelter stack and enjoy local cafes. For those who enjoy fishing, Boundary Creek provides opportunities to catch small trout right from the shoreline during the right season. Additionally, the nearby Jewel Lake Provincial Park is a short drive away, offering excellent opportunities for swimming, boating, and exploring more of the high-country wilderness.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an excellent choice for self-contained RV travelers who prioritize nature and history over modern resort amenities. It serves as a perfect overnight stop for those journeying across southern British Columbia who want to avoid the crowds of larger, commercial campgrounds. If you appreciate a quiet, riverside setting and enjoy exploring small-town heritage and rail trails, Boundary Creek offers a restful and authentic experience. It is ideal for those who value simplicity, a sense of place, and the opportunity to disconnect while remaining close to the highway.

Great stopover for camping, with flush toilets! A bit of road noise from the highway, but the spots are spacious and well-divided from others.

Small, first come first serve provincial campground just west of Greenwood, BC along the Crowsnest Hwy. More of a overnight stop rather than a destination campground, just off the highway itself. Nice shade with trees and shrubs providing some privacy and some sites backing onto creek. Small but well maintained sites suitable for tents, vans and smaller trailers. Flush toilets and sinks a nice surprise! A bit of road noise, but not enough to prevent a good rest and overnight stay.

We really enjoyed staying at boundary creek. It's really just built as a stop in overnight style campground with basic amenities, but lots to do in the area. Host was friendly and the park and amenities were really clean. There is some road noise as it's right next to the highway. Didn't bother us but it might bother lighter sleepers.
