We have stayed at this KOA before and the staff knew about my adult son’s disability. They were nice until we attempted to purchase gas when my son's service dog was with us. On Labor Day weekend, we were denied entry to purchase gas because I was accompanied by his service dog. Under the ADA, businesses cannot demand “papers” for service animals, yet that’s exactly what happened here. This left us stranded 24 miles from the nearest services on an almost 100 degree day with my disabled son. Another family member purchased the gas while we waited in the shade. This was not just inconvenient — it was unsafe and discriminatory. KOA’s own corporate website clearly explains ADA rules ( posted 5 years ago in 2020), but that training was not reflected here.

Please allow dogs. This is huge issue for traveling. Include some sort of dog allowance in cabins. Also had nearly no cellphone service. T-Mobile. Not sure why I didn't see this in any reviews. Maybe its just my carrier?? But a heads up! And yes the WIFI is not good. Its very spotty. But the area is beautiful!! Worth it !!

Great place to get away from it all. We’ve camped at dozens of KOAs across the country and this is by far the prettiest. All the sites are spread out making it feel like you’re in the middle of a park, which you are. The view of the river and the valley is amazing. We were lucky enough to be there when they had a band on Saturday night. What a great experience. We can’t say enough about the restaurant. We don’t normally eat at the camp restaurants but after we had the Wagyu burger that first night we were hooked. I think we tried everything on the menu and it was all fantastic! We were also fortunate to have many interactions with the famous Squirrel. Our son just took up fishing and we know nothing about it but Squirrel gave him some guidance on technique and where the best spots were. He even helped him with some lures and hooks. By the end of our 3 days our son had caught 14 fish! He couldn’t say enough good things about his time here. The swimming area is great for little ones or in our case to get used to being on a paddle board again. There are also kayak and peddle boat rentals so you can spend time on the water. We had both an RV site and camping cabin. The site was huge and level with a view of the water. The cabins were probably the cleanest and most well kept of any we’ve had across the country. Others have complained about the WiFi or cellular coverage. Yes, it’s spotty but you are camping in a river valley that is far from the closest town. We paid for the premium because we had to work one of the days and it was enough for virtual meetings and to run our remote desk top apps. We live in Virginia so this is quite the trek for us but we are already trying to plan another trip out here to spend even more time at this beautiful park and campground.

Gross. Sad excuse for a river. Not the parks fault obviously, but still worth noting. Went paddle boarding once and will never go back after having human poop floating near me in the shallow area. Absolutely disgusting. I’m convinced people just come here to drink and let their kids do whatever and it shows.

We love the location and the 1.5 hour drive from home. Even though we didn't eat in the restaurant, the food smelled great. Staff was super friendly and the park was clean. Great place for short bike rides and definitely appreciated the rattlesnake habitat warning sign. Nice short trail to see the dam. Our only complaint for our sites #26 & #27, the sprinklers hit our trailers and water filled the potholes in our parking spots. My husband had to stand in 3 inches of water to hitch up.our trailer to leave. We plan to return with our boat next time. Finally, so fun to watch the barges and cruise lines go by the campground.
