Don’t know the history of the dunes in this park. On the foot dune, there is a beautiful river, what a contrast view! But many mosquitoes flying around you, even there bites didn’t make you feel very itchy.

Beautiful park! The dunes with the snow capped mountains in the distance is a postcard worthy view! The lakes are picturesque. The human sun dial is also a great attraction.

We love Bruneau Sand Dunes. Campsite is good, the sand dunes are varying levels of difficulty and height to climb. But even the tallest climb is probably around 90 minutes round trip. You can rent sleds and sand board to ride on the dunes or bring your own. They have a great space observatory, huge telescope for use on weekends, astronomy presentations and stargazing opportunities. You can even go scorpion hunting at night with a black light! But beware, don't go on the dunes when there is wind or high temps. Also, bring plenty of mosquito spray. And really, swimming isn't good there, the water is very pond-like, not lake-like. Maybe a canoe is doable but you don't want to fall in.

Very nice park for day use or camping. Campground has electric hookups during the winter, water and bathrooms with showers during non-winter months. The dunes are impressive when you get up close, even more impressive when you've climbed to the top! Nice visitor center, fishing, hiking, equestrian area, etc. The park is well taken care of.

This is a fun park for kids and adults alike. From surfing the dunes, walking the trails, and even observing the stars at night, you won't lack something to do. The park is home to the tallest single-structured sand dunes in North America. The darkness here at night makes for some amazing star gazing. There is an observatory here for just such an occasion. As always, leave no trace, leave it better than you found it, and enjoy 😉
