This park was much better than expected. It was well kept and offered some great sunset views. It was so fun to hike up the dunes and watch the sunset. If you are in the area I highly recommend checking it out atleast once.

A unique part of Idaho. This State Park was a short ride off the main road and it cost 7.00 to enter. They offer impressive massive sand dunes, two camp sites and at the visitor center you can the rent sleds and sand boards to use on the sand dunes. We were told that they don’t rent these if temperatures are too high. We only went for the day, but at night we were told that it is perfect for star gazing. We were lucky to have cardboard with us so we used that as sand boards. The Ranger at the visitor center was knowledgeable and very friendly. We went in the middle of the day so the sand can be very hot. We enjoyed sitting at the top and enjoying the view of the picturesque lake. This was a very clean State Park and it was a lot of fun to visit.

Nice state park with really cool and massive sand dunes. The campground was nice and close enough to take a short hike to climb the dunes. The visitor center offer sleds and boards for rent to slide down the dunes. Heard coyotes at night and saw a pronghorn near the campground. Also saw a gopher snake that was not aggressive at all. Definitely be prepared for mosquitoes becuase they came out in force as soon as the sun set.

Food: NA/5 Service: NA/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Parking: 4/5 Family friendly: 5/5 Stroller friendly: 3/5 ADA accessible: 3/5 My family and I came here strictly for the sand dunes and observatory, late on a Sunday evening around 845-9pm. (Apparently the observatory is closed on Sunday?). Entrance fee is $7 cash or check when the gate is closed. You have to be in some type of shape as ascending the 60 deg incline hill of sand takes a bit of muscle and cardio endurance to make it up. Once at the top though, it's a serene and calming experience. On the backside of the first sand dune, the Snake River runs through. Similar to an Oasis in the desert. However, as some people may know or experience, wherever there is water, comes the bugs. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the bugs (mosquitoes) attacked. Not just one or two, swarms of mosquitoes. If you're like me and have allergic itching reactions to pest bites, be warned and have full body covering along with repellent. By the time we escaped to the car my son had been bit on the head and face. Just a forewarning. Bruneau Dunes State Park seems like a cool place to be. There were 3-4 individual camping locations that's were RV friendly and vast spaces for kids to run around. Sand Dunes themselves are not WC friendly unless you invent some type of sled to push/pull the WC up the hill. Also, make sure when dusk arrives, COVER UP!

The Ranger at the visitor center was wonderful. She was very engaged in her work and gave us great information on things we could do at the park. We stayed at Eagle Cove and the campground was very clean. Unfortunately, there is no shade at all at this campground. None of the picnic tables have any sort of cover. Regarding the bathrooms, the sink and toilet areas were very clean. However, in the women’s restroom, there was hair all over the shower drain strip throughout our two days stay. The dunes are quite amazing. We hiked early in the morning and it was great exercise. Although we had a map, it would’ve been nice if there was signage along the trails. Unfortunately, we were there during the week and so the observatory was not open. A senior discount is given on campsites, which is a bonus.
