Brushy Lake

Overview

Brushy Lake Park offers a tranquil escape nestled in the **scenic Cookson Hills** of eastern Oklahoma. The landscape is dominated by the shimmering **300-acre reservoir**, surrounded by **lush hardwood forests** and rolling hills that create a stunning backdrop for any RV trip throughout the changing seasons.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just a few miles north of downtown Sallisaw, the park is easily accessible from **Highway 59** and Interstate 40. Despite its proximity to these major transit routes, the atmosphere feels remarkably secluded and private. Amenities & Park Features

The park features several sites with **electric and water hookups**, specifically designed to accommodate various RV sizes. Visitors have access to essential facilities including clean restrooms, shower houses, and a convenient **on-site dump station**. For recreation, the park provides multiple **lighted fishing docks** and a boat ramp, ensuring that guests can enjoy the water safely at all hours of the day while taking advantage of the well-maintained picnic pavilions.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the lake’s **no-wake policy**, which ensures a calm environment for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing for bass. Just a short drive away, travelers can explore the **Sequoyah’s Cabin State Historic Site** to learn about local Cherokee history and heritage. The nearby **downtown Sallisaw** area offers unique shops and local dining, providing a nice balance between the ruggedness of the park and small-town Oklahoma charm.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for **quiet-seeking RVers** who prioritize natural scenery and a slow pace over resort-style amenities. It is a fantastic choice for families looking for a **budget-friendly camping** experience and **anglers** wanting easy access to peaceful, well-stocked waters. If you’re looking to tube or ski, Better move it along. Also there are signs about not swimming due to toxic algae so that’s a bit eerie too.

Seems well managed. I visited to check out the bike trails. They need some attention. There were a lot of branches everywhere. Maybe I will volunteer 😉 some time.

It's a little Drive North of town. But the lake is beautiful and for $20 I can't think of a better place to park for the night the bathrooms are not really great but they're fine for showering and using. And the host is a super nice guy and available to help with any issues

LOVE THIS PLACE. The camp host is the best one we've ever had at ANY campground.

The camp host Randy is awesome. My family and I came out from California and spent a week there. Can't wait to go back again next year
