Bryce Canyon/North Campground
Overview
North Campground offers an authentic way to experience one of Utah’s most iconic landscapes. Located directly within Bryce Canyon National Park, this facility prioritizes a rustic wilderness experience over modern resort luxuries. Surrounded by towering ponderosa pines, campers enjoy immediate access to the park’s famous geological wonders. It is one of only two campgrounds located inside the park boundaries, making it a highly sought-after destination for those who want to wake up just steps from the canyon rim.
Location & Surroundings
Situated at an elevation of approximately 8,000 feet, the campground is nestled in a high-alpine forest that provides plenty of shade. Its prime location across from the Visitor Center makes it incredibly convenient for navigating the park without a vehicle. The environment is characterized by fresh mountain air and quiet evenings, though the high altitude means temperatures can drop significantly after sunset. The proximity to Sunrise Point ensures that visitors can witness the park’s famous morning glow without a long commute.
Amenities & Park Features
As a traditional national park facility, North Campground focuses on essential comforts rather than utility connections. RVers should note that there are no hookups available at the sites. However, the park provides communal flush toilets, potable water, and a seasonal dump station for a small fee. Each individual site is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring for evening relaxation. For those needing additional services, a General Store located nearby offers seasonal laundry and shower facilities to keep your journey comfortable.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The greatest draw of staying here is the direct access to the Rim Trail, which offers breathtaking views of the hoodoos and amphitheaters below. Hikers often venture onto the Fairyland Loop or take the convenient park shuttle to explore further points like Inspiration Point. The Bryce Canyon Visitor Center is within walking distance, offering educational exhibits and ranger-led programs. Stargazing is another highlight, as the park is a certified International Dark Sky Park with incredible celestial visibility.
Who This Park Is Best For
This campground is ideal for active explorers and hikers who value proximity to trailheads more than modern park amenities. It is a perfect fit for those who enjoy dry camping and a quiet, natural atmosphere. While some sites can accommodate larger motorhomes, the park is generally best suited for smaller RVs and campervans looking for a serene home base. If your travel style focuses on connecting with nature and catching early sunrise light on the canyon, this is the perfect spot.

Noisiest campground I have ever been. Only loops A and B are open, and they allow generators in both. Almost everyone has a loud generator they run basically all morning and evening, and are stinking up the place. Everything else is great about the camping, but this kills it.

Only the North Campground is open in late October/ early November and the dump station is closed. Campground is impressive with easy to navigate roads sites of varying sizing. Campground is near the visitor center and a paved bike path will take you to most sites at the north end of the park as well as all the way into town outside the main entrance. Our site, Loop A #002, was a pull thru with our door open to the road which was no big deal. This site got outstanding solar input from both roof top panels and, of course, portable panels. Clear sky for our Starlink. My favorite site was Site #11 which is the largest pull thru site, offers privacy, and is solar and Starlink friendly. Generators allowed 8-10am and 6-8 pm. Bathrooms and potable water available from a frost free faucet. Reservations only, NO First come First Served, @ rec.gov.

Love the campground, particularly it's located inside the park. There small and big sites. We ended up and smaller site and needed to park our pickup in their overflow parking, which is 6 minutes walking distance back to our. It was just fine. The campground has dump station and it was clean and well placed.

Such a great campground inside the park! The bathrooms were nice and clean (real toilets, not just pit toilets) and there was a dish washing area. Lots of trees and shade, but hammock use is not allowed. Each campsite has a fire pit and a picnic table

Absolutely wonderful campground! Site 29 was spacious and well maintained with picnic table and fire ring, but it is right in front of the bathrooms so there was a bit of foot traffic. No hookups or showers (hours for generator use are 8a-10a & 6p-8p). Clean restrooms with flush toilets, camp store nearby and it's as close as you can get to Bryce Canyon!
