A couple weekends ago I was supposed to go to Hippie Magic but wasn’t able to because I had to have last minute emergency eye surgery that couldn’t wait and that I had no way of knowing sooner that I would’ve needed. We called, explained the situation, and were still told no on any refund just because I didn’t purchase insurance coverage or whatever it was. With all things considered under my circumstances, no reason you couldn’t have made an exception on getting me a refund or at least a partial refund! That was A LOT of money for me that just got wasted. I definitely DO NOT plan on doing business with Buck Lake Ranch again and DO NOT plan on recommending BLR to anyone!

This is our first season at Buck Lake Ranch as seasonal campers. Some of our first impressions were horrible. All we kept thinking was, this is a public campground…these people are horrible. Now that we have been here almost a whole season our opinions have changed a bit. We will say there does need to be someone to contact at all times at the campground and there is not, this is not helpful(a camp host would be an easy solution). I mean we had to run around and ask several times about wood, who goes camping w/o a fire. There is a nice little beach that is at times, covered in goose droppings. Which we found to be interesting, because we were told no dogs on beach, owners don’t clean up after them. (Well, we can guarantee you, that our campsite is cleaner than the beach and we have 4dogs). The campground its self is clean and quiet. The lake is clean and has some good fishing. If you are looking for a weekend of activities this is not the place to come. If you are looking for a little get away and not be bothered, this would be the place to come. This is why it’s a perfect place for hubby and I. We gave up camping during Covid and after because it was like moving to the city for the weekend and we found ourselves to be stressed out by the end of the weekend. We don’t feel that way here, at Buck Lake Ranch. Some of the permanent not seasonal campers need to clean up around their area and be more respectful to the campers that come and go. The first month hubby and I were here we got the rudest looks, almost ran over by seasonal/permanent campers while driving their cars. This is not the way you attract other campers. It’s a golf cart friendly campground, that means you want outsiders to come and visit and you my friends, are not very welcoming. The organization of the campground seems a bit chaotic at times especially during events. Again, this is our opinion being an outsider coming in. We do plan to stay for another season & have built some good relationships w some of the seasonal campers. If you are looking for a place to be out in nature, this is the place. There are some pretty neat trails & some really cool primitive sites in the woods. The live music is a plus. There are canoes, a row & paddle boats for fishing. Buck Lake, is truly a little hidden gem, that we are glad to be part of, even with all its little imperfections.

The campground is amazing and we have been going to Buck Lake Ranch for 25 years. Sadly everything is declining. Nothing has been updated. The captains quarters we stayed in had 8 leaks which made the concrete floor very slippery. The restrooms on the hill were in very poor shape. A few toilets were backed up, stalls were filthy and had feces spread on the walls. The showers were disgusting. The faucets in some of the sinks were loose. No exhaust fans and overall completely filthy and gross. The bathrooms by the lake were barely any better. The grass was super long, the pavillion area that comes with the captains quartes was filthy and had a ton of wooden benches piled up many broken. It was also full of leaves. We had to clean the site and rearange all the benches to use the awning area. I had to clean the captains quarters in order for our family to feel comfortable. The pull out couch was filthy and looked like something may have died in it. The futon mattress was disgusting. There isnt an office any more, it was locked and no one on duty, you had to call and hit the prompt for guest services. I was completely sad to see this beautiful place that our family has enjoyed for a quarter of a century loose its charm. Won't be going back for a couple years in hopes things may get better again.

Great people. Camp spots aren't too bad but it's riding the tails of a has been popular ranch, and charging way to much to be there.

Buck Lake Ranch is an awesome place to camp, they have an okay lake with good fishing and a small lake where kids can play and splash around, they have trails to walk and see nature, bring your own camper, tent, or rent a cabin, all great options. They also have events there like wedding's, concerts, and other social events, one such event is Hippie Magic, a throw back to the days ruled by peace, love, and tie-dye. All and all this place is a great place for a camping excursion.
