Bull Canyon
Overview
Bull Canyon Provincial Park offers a peaceful retreat along the Highway 20 corridor in the heart of British Columbia's rugged Chilcotin region. Known for its stunning limestone cliffs and its immediate proximity to the turquoise waters of the Chilcotin River, this park provides a truly natural escape for travelers. Visitors will find a quiet environment where the constant, soothing sound of the rushing river replaces the noise of city life, making it a perfect spot for those exploring the remote interior of the province on their way to the coast.
Location & Surroundings
Situated just a few kilometers west of Alexis Creek, the park is defined by the steep canyon walls that give the area its distinctive name. The surrounding landscape is a beautiful mix of Douglas-fir forests and dry grasslands, offering a rare glimpse into the unique geography of the Central Interior. The Chilcotin River flows directly alongside the campground, providing a cool breeze and a picturesque backdrop for every campsite tucked within this narrow, scenic valley floor.
Amenities & Park Features
As a provincial park, the facilities here are intentionally basic and cater to those who enjoy dry camping in a wilderness setting. The park features vehicle-accessible campsites, each equipped with a sturdy picnic table and a fire ring for evening gatherings. While there are no electrical hookups or sani-dump stations on-site, visitors have access to pit toilets and hand-pump water. Many sites are nestled among the trees, offering excellent privacy and shade for small to medium-sized RVs and camper vans.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts can explore the Bull Canyon Loop Trail, a short but rewarding hiking path that offers elevated views of the river and the dramatic cliff faces above. The river itself is a popular spot for fishing, particularly for those looking to experience the region's famous trout runs. For a longer excursion, travelers can head east to the community of Alexis Creek or continue west toward the Farwell Canyon, where the landscape transforms into dramatic sand dunes and hoodoos.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for adventurous RVers who prefer solitude and natural beauty over modern resort luxuries. It is a fantastic choice for travelers on a long-haul road trip through the Cariboo-Chilcotin region who need a scenic, quiet place to rest. Because of its rustic nature and limited turning radiuses, it is best suited for self-contained units and those who appreciate the quiet simplicity of a riverside campfire under a vast, star-filled sky.

Well, it was actually closed already. So many traveller's, and they didn't find the little turn off,s like I did. A beautiful area! To bad the campsite closed. Should be open until the end of October, or when the snow fly,s heavy....

very cute camp spot. bring everything you need, the water pump doesn’t really work there so get some beforehand. Lovely spot mostly a drive by place.

Stopped to check out the caves. Difficult scramble up the hillside.

Great spot to camp along the way or use as a jumping off point for Nazko Lakes. Don't forget to do the walk and view the ciffs.

Nice and relaxing by the river. Makes a good destination point when travelling to Bella Coola.
