In response to the pavement ending, yes for about 5 to 10 miles max. Anymore 126 is paved from Cuba to just short of moon canyon, and yes a car can make the unpaved section rather easy. It is about a 50 mile ish trek from la cueva to Cuba but a well worth it drive. The red marks are the dirt section.

Warning: if you think you’ll explore east to Cuba. Don’t. Pavement ends just past the hatchery.

Great place, tucked away and private

This is an abandoned campground with locked gates, which are easy to hop over if you'd like to visit a rather interesting piece of the past. The old concrete tables are still present and there is a small dam that is no longer functional. I do not know when the campground was closed; I wonder if it has to do with elk conservation.
