âCamp Charles was a solid experience overall, but the bathroom situation gave me a surprise I wasnât ready for. Walked into the restroom and found someone had already⊠claimed the throne. Letâs just say it wasnât the kind of âsouvenirâ you want to find at camp. đ© Aside from the unexpected bathroom buddy, everything else was great. Maybe just a little more attention to the facilities and itâd be perfect!â

We just camped here for the second time this summer and we love it!!! The campground is beautiful. We camped with water and electric for our camper but they have some awesome primitive camping sites tucked up in the woods. Each time we come back we like the campground more and more! Hopefully we can fit in a few more camping trips here this year!

The most fantastic thing about this place isnât even mentioned anywhere. Drive in and youâll see a very nice campground with good amenities and nice RV sites with hookups and beautiful surroundings. But, drive in deeper, past the field camping area, into the forest and youâll end up in the most pleasant area ever. The woods campsites, they are fantastic. Moss covered tent areas, large fire pits, spacious sites, all perfectly cared for, and just enough sky visible through the trees to enjoy a view of the stars. Best place everâŠespecially for those who want an off grid non-RV experience.

Ah, what a memorable experienceâand we didnât even make it past the reservation. We had to cancel our stay because of an unfortunate power outage which of course, is out of anyoneâs control, but that makes a big difference when youâre traveling with a pregnant wife, a one-and-a-half-year-old child, and two dogs. Silly us for thinking electricity might be a basic amenity when paying for a campsite. But the real adventure began when we called to let the owner know we wouldnât be coming. Rather than understanding, we were treated to a truly special brand of customer serviceâcondescending, argumentative, and oddly aggressive. My wife, again pregnant, was lucky enough to get into a spirited debate with the owner, who clearly thought we were being unreasonable for not wanting to camp without power with an infant and pets. What an outrageous request on our part, right? We were to be accompanied by my parents and grandparents in their campers as well. He proceeded to say, âOh, so I guess everyone else is pregnant with a toddler too, huh?â Real nice. And just when we thought the interaction couldnât get any more charming, we were told we were being âflagged.â Oh no! The horror! Being blacklisted by a campground that thinks arguing with expectant mothers is good hospitalityâŠhow will we ever recover? If you enjoy power outages, drama, and being scolded like a child for putting your familyâs safety first, this place is a must-visit. For everyone else: there are better options with electricity and basic human decency.

Just got back from our family camping trip. Stayed for 2 nights. Friday-Saturday, & Sunday morning we left. We enjoyed the general stay but itâs very unfortunate that the majority of my family members felt uncomfortable because of the people constantly staring at us because of our ethnicity/race. It is indefinite that the owners and people who are regulars/live in the site are very patriotic and supporters of a specific party. Hence me saying that the people in the community were constantly staring at us and what we did.... unfortunate that it had to come to those terms. We meant no harm to begin with but to enjoy a camping trip just like we do every year. Cons: the owner Doug was upset at us for collecting wood from the forest for our fire and insisted that we had to buy the wood they provided and not do that. We were never told of such rule, I would have appreciated if they told us at check in. And I find it outrageous that we couldnât even use the sticks from the forest, when in fact itâs nature...Yet the wood provided by them wasnât even that good! The community watching our every move and staring at us!!!!!!!!!!!! Loud people & getting drunk regularly. Nothing to do, no fishes in the pond. The store BARELY has anything but random things. Need to stock up on inventory big time. Very old school to the max. Pros: the pool was decent (deepest level 9ft) the bathrooms/showers were decent; not good, small basketball court & playground. Arcade room is also decent, legit. Some activities for kids (tie dye on Saturday morning, bingo on a Saturday afternoon) Overall, I would not recommend unless you are about that and donât mind that. Very much rate this camp on a scale of 1-10 a 3. Would never come again. I appreciate Pams hospitality though. Posted photos showing the majority of the campground. I hope people can see how it really looks with updated images !!! They need to update their website.

We stayed one night at the end of an RV trip. The couple who run the place are very nice. They had a country music band playing at night called âBanned From The Ranchâ who was awesome. Most of the campsites are people who have been at the campground seasonally for many years. Everyone was friendly and waved or came over to talk. We had fun here and thank them for their hospitality.

I keep my RV there, full time seasonal, while it's not the biggest campground with the most amenities, they make up for it in family an friendly atmosphere. The owners, Doug & Pam are on site and do their best to make sure everything and everyone are good to go.....and I can't lie, they have probably the most epic fireworks up there every single year!! Best I've ever seen, hands down ....so if you wanna have a great trip in the woods, don't pass up a chance to stay at Camp Charles. ...but keep in mind, make sure it's not rainy, because that place gets muddy!!!
