We were parked across the road from the office and it would have been nice if someone would have warned us about the tons of sandburs on the property. Our dog got them twice in his paws while we were there. The cable never did work where we were at. But it does have awesome sunsets.

Visited for fall break only to find out everything in the area was closed for the season and the campground was nearly empty with limited hours for amenities. Seasonal hours should be posted on website as it affects the enjoyment of the stay greatly. Staff was friendly and helpful. . Sites were fine. What we expected for hundreds of sites together. Never could get their WiFi or cable to work. Overall location was uneventful. The sites themselves were located close to beach and bay. However, all stores and restaurants in the vicinity were closed. We traveled 30+ minutes for restaurants and entertainment. Overall a very strange experience as we literally felt as if we were the only ones around.

We traveled with a group of 4 couples. Two in Class A's one in a Class C and a bumper pull. The staff got us into a great location that allowed us to set up a nice place to enjoy. Was breezy which was nice and only issue last day was a few bugs. Beach was easy to reach and nice. Outdoor pool was perfect and great place to meet other and have a nice conversation. Golf Cart rental right down the street. Lots of day trips to the Hatteras island via ferry...very nice and lots of places to eat within a short distance.

Overall, it was an "ok" place to stay. Nice to be close to the beach, easy access. Sunset view over the Sound is pretty. Laundry facilities were clean. The clubhouse was clean & nice with a pool & a hot tub. The park itself is nothing special to look at. We will not come back to Camp Hatteras. The dealbreaker is how our friends were treated. We arrived 2 days before they did. We did not reserve a specific site number but we did pay for a site in the "premium" section, closest to the beach. When our friends arrived, they asked for a site in or near our section only to be told that they should have prepaid a $25 upcharge for a specified site if they wanted to be near us. We didn't know where the campground was going to put us - they don't give you a site number with your reservation. The employee could have EASILY accommodated our friends' request as there were MANY sites in our section available the entirety of our stay and they paid for a "premium" campsite just like we did. Our friends arrived 25 minutes ahead of 1pm check in, after driving 6 hours, they were turned away. Not even allowed to sit in the EMPTY parking lot for 25 minutes - that is just plain rude. There were SO many sites available. I understand "it is policy" but in all our travels, we have NEVER been turned away from a slightly early arrival. It would have been understandable if the campground was at capacity or busy with other arrivals but that was absolutely not the case. Disappointing. Policy should not outweigh treating your customers with kindness. I do not recommend Camp Hatteras. There are a lot of better choices for my money.

There's something at Camp Hatteras RV Resort for everyone in the family. Sites are well maintained, customer service is a priority, there are activities planned throughout the week, dining options nearby. The campground is on both sides of the highway, so you are either staying ocean side or sound side. We stayed sound side and enjoyed beautiful sunsets from our campsite every night. While it's not too far to walk to the ocean/beach from anywhere within the campground, there is a local business that will happily rent and deliver golf carts to your site. Additionally, water recreation activities are available to rent next to the resort, sound side. We're planning our next visit!

We booked a weekend here and enjoyed it. Our kids liked the playground and mini golf. My youngest enjoyed riding his scooter on their paved roads. The beach is gorgeous. It’s very quiet until evening hours when everyone is out and about. There were some activities planned by the campground, like sand art and karaoke, but we didn’t get the chance to check them out due to our schedule. I don’t recommend going during a heat wave as there is zero shade. Concrete pads are nice and there’s a picnic table at each site. If you want to have a camp fire, you’ll need an above ground fire pit or a solo stove. The campground doesn’t rent golf carts, but there is a place down the road you can rent from and they will deliver and pick it back up. We suggest staying here if you plan to be out and about, like going to the Bodie Island Light house. As a side note, I was told by some locals that if you want alcohol besides beer and wine, you’ll have to get it in Nags Head as the outer islands aren’t allowed to sell it.

This campground is in a great location with a nice pool and lots of activities. The bath house was clean and well maintained. It is a huge property with lots of campers. There is no shade but I am not sure that any camp grounds in the area have much shade. I would definitely recommend this campground to anyone looking for direct beach access and lots of on site amenities.

We had such a great time at Camp Hatteras! The campground is right between the ocean and the sound, so you get the best of both worlds. We had a site by the beach, and it was amazing to wake up and walk straight onto the sand. The beach was super clean and not crowded, which was perfect for relaxing. The place itself is really nice—lots of space, very clean, and the people working there were all really friendly. The pools were great (they have indoor and outdoor ones), and we had fun playing mini golf and hanging out in the hot tub. They also have a little store on-site that had pretty much everything we needed, and the bathrooms and showers were always clean, which was a big plus. It’s also in a good spot if you want to check out other parts of the Outer Banks. We did a bit of exploring but honestly could’ve just stayed at the campground the whole time and been happy. Definitely planning to come back next year. Highly recommend it!

Wonderful campground. We stayed on the ocean side yet still had an excellent view of the incredible sunsets on the sound side. Quiet campground. Staff is kind and very helpful. Nice location and since the campground is on both sides of the island there is easy access to the ocean or the sound. Mostly level sites with a convenient concrete pad at each. Close enough to walk/bike to a few restaurants and shops or a quick drive for more options. Highly recommend!

For a KOA, it's not bad. It's about location, for this one. Staff was friendly and it's a very clean campground. There are very few places to shop and eat within a 30 minute drive. If you have a vehicle to get around in, prepare for a LOT of driving.

This is definitely a RV Resort more than a Campground . They have an activities director that plans activities for kids all week. Outdoor pool indoor pool, jacuzzi. We stayed sound side and the sunset is incredible. Security is very present so I never worried about my kayak and other things outside. Very family friendly. Club house is open to 11! I love that. Always something to do. IWear shoes outside at all times due to little burrs in the grass. Also site 335 is too close to the dumpsters it stinks so bad. Thank God the wind blew the smell away 95% of the time. Pray for the poor soul on the other side don't know how they stood it. ****2020 covid restrictions have made vacationing in NC difficult. We couldn't enjoy the pool due to limited capacity, couldn't go in the office, no activities, putt putt was still going and the play ground. I love the beaches and the sound so thank God for that. But if I had done more research I wouldn't paid to stay here and went somewhere cheaper as most things were so restricted. It's not worth the cost right now. It's not the fault of the campground they are at the mercy of the government like everyone else. Tough times.
