Camp Raintree Lake

Overview

Camp Raintree Lake offers a tranquil retreat tucked away in the rolling hills of Southern Indiana. This destination is defined by its lush wooded scenery and the central water feature that gives the park its name. Unlike busy urban parks, it provides a slower pace of life where the focus is on enjoying the natural outdoors. It serves as an inviting basecamp for those exploring the regional beauty of the area while maintaining a cozy, traditional camping atmosphere.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just outside the city limits of Scottsburg, Indiana, the park is conveniently located near the I-65 corridor. This makes it an accessible stop for travelers moving through the Midwest, yet it feels worlds away from highway noise once you enter the grounds. The surrounding landscape is characterized by agricultural fields and dense timber, providing a genuine sense of privacy. The park’s position allows for quick trips into town for supplies while keeping guests immersed in rural Indiana charm.

Amenities & Park Features

The facility provides several functional features designed for comfort and outdoor recreation. Guests have access to various site types and on-site activities including:

  • A private fishing lake where guests can spend quiet afternoons by the water.
  • A refreshing seasonal swimming pool and a dedicated playground for children.
  • RV sites equipped with electric and water hookups, providing the essential comforts for a stress-free stay.

The park also features a camp store for basic necessities and common areas for horseshoes and basketball.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Travelers will find plenty to explore within a short drive of the campground. Nature enthusiasts often visit the nearby Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge for exceptional birdwatching and scenic hiking trails. For those interested in water sports beyond the park's borders, Hardy Lake offers larger-scale boating and fishing opportunities. Additionally, the historic downtown area of Scottsburg provides local dining and shopping, giving visitors a taste of small-town Indiana hospitality and history.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal match for families seeking a classic camping experience away from digital distractions. Anglers will appreciate the easy access to the private lake, while road trippers will find it a restorative place to rest between long drives. It is best suited for those who prefer a rustic, community-oriented vibe rather than a high-end luxury resort. If you value shade trees, quiet evenings by a fire, and a friendly atmosphere, this is an excellent choice for your Indiana travels.

We stayed there in our motorhome. This KOA is a must stop. The owners and staff are just amazing. The sits are very nice and spacious. They do offer food. Certainly give it a try. We had the pizza, mozzarella sticks, and zucchini sticks. All very good. They make a mean coconut boba tea. Had many of those. We absolutely will be back again!!!!!

We've stayed at many KOA campgrounds and I have to say, this one was the nicest. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The grounds are well manicured. If you have stayed at a KOA before, you know some of the "permanent sites" look like a yard sale. Not the case with this campground. There's a lot of activities for both children and adults.

IMMACULATE. FRIENDLY. QUIET. The nicest campground we’ve been to…maybe…ever. Convenient to I-65 but distant enough for peace and quiet. Easy in and out. Bathrooms are new and immaculate. Roads and sites are well-graveled and level. Hosts Marny and Mark (and Mr. Tuxedo Tank) take campground hospitality to the next level. And you can get hot (gluten free) pizza delivered to your site.

We stayed 3 nights and loved this campground! Sites are very clean and spacious. Great dog park. You can tell the owners take great pride in the park. They had music Saturday night and it was awesome. We will definitely stop again if in the area.
