Camping Alma La Colonie

Overview

Camping Alma La Colonie offers a welcoming retreat in the heart of the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region. This well-maintained park provides a peaceful woodland setting while remaining conveniently close to the urban amenities of Alma. Whether you are arriving for a quick stopover or a season-long stay, the park is designed to help travelers reconnect with nature. Its reputation for hospitality makes it a favorite for both locals and international visitors exploring Quebec's scenic landscapes through a balanced mix of relaxation and activity.

Location & Surroundings

Located in the city of Alma, QC, the park is perfectly positioned near the scenic Petite-Décharge river. The surrounding area is defined by its proximity to Lac-Saint-Jean, one of the province's most famous natural landmarks. One of the biggest draws is the direct access to the Véloroute des Bleuets, a world-class cycling circuit that loops around the entire lake. The site feels secluded among mature trees, yet you are never far from local artisan bakeries, markets, and cultural centers that define the regional charm.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is equipped to handle various camping styles, offering several types of sites to accommodate different traveler needs. Guests can enjoy a variety of on-site facilities designed for comfort and leisure.

  • A large heated outdoor swimming pool for summer relaxation.
  • Clean, modern laundry facilities and well-maintained shower blocks.
  • A dedicated children's playground and community activity areas for social gatherings.
  • Spacious sites with full hookups (30 and 50 amp) that offer a canopy of shade and privacy.
The park also maintains reliable wireless internet access and well-lit paths for safe evening strolls throughout the grounds.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Adventure seekers will find plenty to do just minutes from the campground. The Pointe-Taillon National Park is a short drive away, offering miles of sandy beaches and shallow waters perfect for swimming. History enthusiasts can visit the Odyssée des Bâtisseurs to learn about the industrial heritage of the region. Of course, cycling is the primary activity here; the flat, paved paths of the Véloroute provide an accessible way to see the stunning lakefront vistas and local blueberry farms that the region is famous for.

Beautiful campsite, lots of residents, superb beach! If you can book the "Colonie Australe" sector, it's much better than the Boréal sector because it's closer to the beach and there's no path to cross.

Very very good service. Out of 5 campsites called to reserve, they were the only ones who answered right away without having to go through 56 pitons before leaving a message. Quiet and clean grounds. We were able to try the dog beach with our dogs. The grounds are still big enough to put 2 big tents. Nice welcome. Very nice campsite. The owner is very kind and pleasant to talk to with her good humor. The service really, in my opinion, was perfect. You can see that this lady loves her job. The only problem, a night at $65 is a bit expensive. But just for the scenery, it's worth it. This campsite is really great. I just didn't go to see the activities but it's a place where I would return once in the summer. The photos are of the dog beach side

We had a great country-themed weekend. There were games for everyone during the day, a free dinner in the evening, plus entertainment with singers and a dance floor. We even had a beautiful fireworks display. The only downside is that the toilet block on the 300 pitch side, the laundry room, the shower, and the toilet are all in the same room. Sometimes you have to wait a really long time before you can use it.
