First time staying. I like to location of being on the beach which was convenient. The sites are way too tight! When your awning touches the slide of the other motorhome next to you and you can’t even hardly get out around your door. Site was not cleaned up as there was trash left when we arrived. Our trash was never picked up as we left it out hours before 9 before pick up. Not dog friendly as there’s no where for them to walk or barely go the bathroom. The staff at front was friendly but didn’t have information when asked and got different answers. When we left it’s very tight to get out and the male staff glared at me to even move our tow vehicle as I told him we were trying to get out to leave. For what you pay I would have expected a little more.

We just got back from a week at Camping on the Gulf in September. Great campground, but as others have said, it's pretty tight and if you have a big rig, take your time and drive slowly.....people's trucks are in the way everywhere, but it is what it is. I suspect this campground was designed before rigs got so big. Thankfully our camper fit fine, but it was still very tight getting it into our site without hitting something. The beach is great, but be aware if you want a water front row beach spot, you have to put your chairs/tent out at 6am......by 630am everything is taken (each "resort" has it's beach space, so you can't go anywhere you please on the beach). I don't play that game...I like my sleep. But otherwise there is plenty of beach space all day. One thing that puzzled us was all the children. It's mid-September and ALL schools are in session, so these must be homeschooled kids.

This campground is amazing! Ownership has changed a couple times since we’ve been coming and it’s currently better than ever. Family style bath houses are always pristine! Laundry facilities are just what you could need. Location is absolutely PERFECT! Shopping and dining options are a plenty. Staff here are so friendly and helpful. Disregard previous negative reviews. Camp Gulf is where it’s at!

I want to be as fair as possible with this review. The staff were friendly and the location is pretty nice. The reason I won't be back is due to the hassle, the value, and the RV spaces at the beach. We were in site 702. You could tell that the pads were not cleaned up between campers. Also the camp ground has been around since 1968 (per an employee) and campers didn't have slide-outs then. We parked in the middle of our site and my slides on one side couldn't be put all the way out - or hit the awning on the camper to my right. With the camper to my left I couldn't put my awning all the way out - or hit their camper. At what we paid, the value isn't there. Also, I have a gas powered golf cart which is not allowed??? Why - Just because I guess! Its not an environmental issue, because they are cleaner than some of the oil burners they allow in the campground. Its not because they are loud, because they a quieter then some of the loud trucks! Since there is no parking with full size vehicles at the amineties, we didn't get to enjoy that aspect of our trip either; but the truth is that the sites are so tight I would not have had a place to park my golf cart on my site anyway. A staff person told me to move my truck up and it literally put my hood under the slide-out of my neighbors camper and blocked his access to his storage doors. We won't be back to this campground as we paid to much for our experience there.

Camping on the Gulf sits right on the beachfront, stretching from the main road all the way to the sand. This RV park offers direct beach access, which is its main highlight. The beach is beautiful, wide, and clean, with soft white sand. However, one downside is that beach access via the service dock is restricted, making it inaccessible for guests with disabilities. No explanation is provided, but it’s something to keep in mind. The campsites are very close together — expect zero privacy. If you’re looking for a quiet, secluded spot, this won’t be the right park. That said, it’s well-equipped and thoughtfully laid out. You get full hookups, paved parking spots, and smooth access throughout. The park features two pools, including one indoor, and offers useful extras like food trucks with coffee and ice cream in the mornings, and a convenient station for fresh water, tire pressure, and vacuuming — perfect given how sandy the entire area is. The front office staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed here for three nights and found there was more than enough to do without needing to leave. Our kids loved it, and we appreciated how RV-friendly the setup was. Just expect lots of sand — everywhere — and make sure to rinse your bike or RV tires before heading out. If you’re okay with a little crowding and love being right on the beach, this is a solid choice.
