Camping Rouillard

Overview

Camping Rouillard offers a peaceful retreat in the heart of the Mauricie region, blending tradition with modern RV comforts. Established decades ago, this family-owned campground has become a staple for travelers seeking a balance between relaxation and outdoor activity. Situated along the shores of a historic lake, it provides a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the quiet charm of rural Quebec while maintaining high standards for service and facility maintenance.

Location & Surroundings

The park is located in Lac-à-la-Tortue, a sector of Shawinigan known for its unique geography and aviation history. Travelers will find themselves surrounded by lush forests and calm waters, creating a picturesque backdrop for any RV stay. The site is easily accessible from major routes, making it a convenient base for exploring the wider Mauricie area, where the Saint-Maurice River carves through a landscape of rolling hills and dense woodlands.

Amenities & Park Features

Guests have access to a variety of well-maintained facilities designed for both short-term and seasonal stays. The park features full-hookup RV sites with 30-amp service, ensuring a comfortable experience for modern rigs. On-site recreation is centered around the heated swimming pool and the private beach area on the lake. Additionally, the park provides clean sanitary blocks, laundry facilities, and a playground, ensuring that all basic needs are met within the grounds.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

One of the biggest draws to this area is the proximity to La Mauricie National Park, located just a short drive away, offering world-class hiking, canoeing, and wildlife viewing. For those interested in local culture, the Cité de l'Énergie in Shawinigan provides an immersive look at industrial history. Aviation enthusiasts will appreciate being at the birthplace of Canadian commercial aviation, where seaplanes are still a common sight over the lake’s surface during the summer months.

Who This Park Is Best For

Camping Rouillard is an ideal destination for families seeking a safe environment where children can enjoy supervised swimming and outdoor play. It also appeals strongly to nature lovers who want a quieter alternative to the busier resort-style parks while remaining close to significant natural landmarks. This is one of the best campgrounds I’ve been to. All the staff are very friendly and the facilities and grounds are extremely well kept and beyond clean! Whether you’re looking for somewhere for your family to camp for a few weeks, a weekend, or settle in for longer periods, I highly recommend Camping Rouillard Inc. With weekend live bands, endless events, Halloween in the summer, and a great golf course right on site…you’ll never run out of things to do here. Thanks Martin, Jenny & staff! You always make our stay very memorable and comforting!

Campsite that does not take itself seriously. Small, pleasant par 3 golf course. Shows on weekends. Friendly owners. Access to Lac-À-La-Tortue.

A great stay in a super nice campsite with lots of activities and welcoming owners! Super clean chalet that lacks nothing! We’ll be back next year for sure!
