Overview

Canton Lake’s Canadian Campground offers a serene lakeside escape in northwest Oklahoma. As a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility, it provides a well-regulated and peaceful environment where nature takes center stage. The park is nestled along the northern shoreline of an expansive 7,900-acre reservoir, offering visitors a blend of open skies and shaded campsites. It is a destination where the gentle lapping of waves against the shore creates a relaxing backdrop for a long weekend or a seasonal fishing trip.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just outside the town of Canton, OK, the park sits within a landscape characterized by cross timbers and rolling prairies. The Canadian area is specifically located on the northern side of the lake, providing expansive, unobstructed views across the water. This surrounding region is largely agricultural and quiet, allowing travelers to truly disconnect from the noise of city life. The lake itself is fed by the North Canadian River, which helps maintain a rich ecosystem and diverse wildlife that frequent the shoreline and nearby marshlands.

The campground features several loops with electric and water hookups, accommodating a wide variety of RV sizes and configurations. Guests have access to modern conveniences that make a multi-day stay comfortable and enjoyable. The park features include:

  • Clean hot showers and flush toilets are provided for guest comfort.
  • Dedicated playground and swimming areas offer family-friendly fun on the shore.
  • Multiple boat ramps and a nearby marina support diverse aquatic recreation.
  • A central dump station is available for convenient waste disposal.

These features ensure a comfortable stay while maintaining a focus on the natural environment.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Water sports and fishing are the primary draws here, with Canton Lake being recognized as a premier destination for walleye fishing in Oklahoma. Beyond the water, visitors can explore the nearby Roman Nose State Park, which offers unique geological formations, hiking trails, and natural springs. The annual Canton Lake Walleye Rodeo is a major local event that attracts competitive anglers from across the region. For a change of pace, the nearby Lucky Star Casino provides local entertainment and dining options just a short drive away.

Who This Park Is Best For

Very nice campground. We were the only campers besides the host and workers.

I've been to Canton Lake a few times in the past, and it did not disappoint. Fourth of July in the A section of the Canadian campground where the new sites were built. Nice and clean, all shore power has 50, 30, and 15 amp hookups. Water hookup for each site, fire ring, and covered picnic table with large patio and grill. Pads are cemented with just a slight slope. You pay a tiny bit more for this campground, but it's well worth it.

Beautiful spot to spend a couple days. Very clean and quiet, but we were here off-season, and there were just a few campers. Facilities are clean and efficient. Make sure to visit the Overlook Cafe while you're here!

Nice, clean and well maintained park. Cement pads are really nice. Showers are clean. During our stay in 100 plus weather the electric never went out. Only minor problem was the goat head stickers. Will come back.
