Great place to stay! We stayed in a small cabin with just the bed, and it was the perfect size for our short 2 day stay, with storage under the bed and great AC/heating. The hot tub was amazing for the chilly nights, I was glad they kept it open until 10:00pm. The community bathrooms were nice, a little dirty, but, again, we were only there for 2 days so they likely cleaned after we had already left. The staff was very friendly, gave us a quick rundown on everything, had free WiFi, a playground, a bounce pillow, and a short walk to the beach or to a nice diner across the street that served breakfast, lunch and dinner (we only had breakfast there, but it was really good!) It’s also in a great location in Rodanthe, so you could drive down to Avon or up to Nags Head without it being too far of a drive, about 20-30 minutes. Definitely recommend!

My family and I rented 3 deluxe cabins. They were dirty and bug roach infested. I initially rented a golf cart, but barely used it. So I returned as did my son. They refunded me the difference in my credit card but supposedly did not have the cash to give my son his money back, and he was told to come back later in the day and they would have it in an envelope for him. They did not have it and knew nothing about it. Finally the next day they refunded on a credit card. I was woken up about 1:30am with bugs walking on me, and biting me. Also the light and ac in the master bedroom did not work. When I went to report and have these fixed, the staff was rolling their eyes like I was making it up. I showed them a pic of a bug on bathroom shower curtain. So they acted to fix light and spray. The spraying did not help, I still had bugs. Also I purchased firewood early in the morning and didn’t receive. When I called at 5:30pm to asked where it was I was given the runaround about it. We decided to leave early due to the issues that we all were experiencing. The staff was rude. They were taking about us in a bad manner, which was not appreciated. One of the staff was rolling her eyes. How utterly unprofessional. When we checked out early we were told that we should never have been refunded any money for the golf carts. Really?! Today when we checked out early we were offered nothing. I paid for a day I did not use and was not given a refund for the day. Also Kai informed me in order to get money back I had to cancel 48 hours in advance, hence no refund. If you are going to visit this koa, bring cleaning supplies, roach repellent. The staff was rude, and not nice to deal with. Kai was extremely rude, she should not be in customer service at all, her skills in dealing with people are subpar.

We had trouble deciding between the Cape Hatteras RV Park and the KOA, and wanted to share our experience from an early October stay. While the location is undeniably beautiful, we were disappointed overall. We understand it’s a harsh coastal climate, but many of the buildings, outdoor lamps, and fences had chipping paint and visible rust, giving the property a neglected feel. Our back-in site stayed muddy the entire time, especially right at the camper entrance. The Wi-Fi didn’t work at all in the section near the beach, even though that’s where many of the premium sites are. Additionally, while we appreciate that staff housing is necessary, the worker areas next to guest sites could be better maintained and kept tidier. The hot tub area was also frustrating — there’s a loud ringing noise that staff seemed aware of but haven’t addressed. The beach path felt unsafe, with a noticeable drop-off where it meets the sand. The pool was also not heated; when we called before booking, we weren’t given a clear answer about the temperature, which was disappointing. On a positive note, the glow train was one of the most fun activities we’ve seen at any KOA, and the rosé wine tasting to raise funds for breast cancer was a thoughtful and meaningful touch. This KOA has so much potential, but the lack of maintenance and attention to guest experience really stood out. While the location is great, the overall experience didn’t quite justify the premium price.

I would have always given this campground 5 stars. But not this time. Trust me, I'm an easygoing camper, so if something bothers me, it would probably bother anyone else even more. First, I arrived a little early. I really appreciated that they agreed to let me in this early. However, once I was shown to my site, I pointed out to the employee that the neighbor was practically sitting in my shade shelter, it was obvious. The employee didn't seem happy with my dissatisfaction, he told me that it would be too complicated to ask the neighbor to place his trailer correctly, he would have to move me to another site. So he contacted the lady at the front desk and asked if I could move to another site. I was finally told that the only equivalent site available was 355, which was full of water from the rain, was half the size, and directly on the edge of the street where everyone passed. So I didn't really have a choice but to keep this site and endure the neighbor's encroachment on my environment. I've traveled a lot and experienced several campsites. Normally, in a resort of this price, this lack of courtesy towards the neighbor would not have been tolerated. If I had been lucky, they could have moved me to an equivalent site, but the next guest who would have faced this situation would not have been any happier. So I paid an extra price for a shade shelter that I will not have the pleasure of using, that's what disappoints me. I don't know if the KOA administration cares about the comments provided by their best customers, but I hope that it will be taken into account constructively to ensure a better customer experience.

AWESOME!! Cabins and Suites are very nice. Clean. Comfortable beds, and great showers. We had the ocean front cabin, and we rented the suite for our friends for 2 days. Both locations excellent. Breakfast there was really good..everyone had something different, and it all was great..nice people too. Views were awesome. We were there during the hurricanes, but even thought he surf was rough, the view was great...loved watching the water.. Thanks everyone at this KOA..we had a blast.. P.S..we had fun neighbors..got to know some really cool people....THANKS J&J..

We stayed for a week here in our camper. The bathrooms, site, pool, everything, was very clean and lovely. Pool is huge. Sites are nice, not overly large but not tiny either. All the employees were super helpful and nice. But let me tell you, the star of the show is the location. You can walk, depending on where your site is, about 30 seconds to 3 minutes directly onto the beach. And the beach is beautiful. For the price, it's incredible. The only downside is there aren't a lot of grocery options, so stop at the Walmart before you get here. Highly recommend.

Beautiful location!! Beach access! Only some of the sites have full hookups. We opted for a dog kennel site that stated full hookups but when we arrived it was only water/electric. So be sure you review the website well before booking or call to verify your site. They do offer pump sewer service and this was nice for sites like ours. Some of the sites closer to the beach are very narrow but are pull through accessible. The pool is huge! One of the largest we have seen for KOA - however we stayed during a peak time and the pool was packed most days. The beach access was wonderful. Plenty of room on the beach. We noticed there is no tide as it relates to how long the beach is all day. We are used to South Carolina beaches where the beach changes from short distance to the water all the way down to several yards long but there was little to no tide movement each day. The water was very clear! Boardwalk beach access was clean with 8+ shower rinse stations for sandy rinsing prior to or after a beach day. *Limited bathhouse* for campground this size. With only 1 full bathhouse (4 shower rooms each gender - 3 family showers) on site and was only cleaned once a day. However the bathhouse has 4 outside showers to rinse off well between full showers. Also, 1 full bathroom with 4 stalls each gender located at one beach entrance. Staff was amazing and extremely nice and helpful at all times! Many services offered and a ton of activities for families of all ages. Our favorite was the outdoor movie and ghost crab hunting!

Excellent campground and well kept. Large swimming pool and a hot tub too. We had a campsite 100’ from the beach and 50’ from a super clean, air conditioned bath house. I give the campground itself and the staff 5 stars, but the golf carts they have to rent are clapped out rust buckets. 1 star rating for the golf carts. Overall nice/clean place. I would highly recommend for a family beach vacation.

Our family of 5 stayed for a week for the first time. We had a site with just water hook up so we utilized the bath house often. The bath house was spacious and extremely clean for our family. We did use the pump service once at the end of our stay which was extremely convenient, fast and well priced. The pool and train ride were the kids' favorite along with the nighttime ghost crab hunt! The walk to the beach with 3 small kids was super easy and convenient. We will most definitely be booking again for next year!

Stayed here for three nights. The location was great. Pool awesome and the staff super friendly. We stayed for the Easter weekend and they had a lot activities for our kids. They had a blast. The only thing I saw better at a Koa campground yet, were the sites itself. There were not much space between the regular sites and no vegetation. But We will definitely come back! Highly recommended is the sunrise at the beach.

Bathrooms are not the cleanest. In the laundry, only 2 machines out of 6 we're working, not fixed in the five days of our visit. Grounds are a little unkempt, some long term sites don't look so good. Employees are very nice. Would be nice if pool was heated, pool is very large. Sites are close together and with over 700, I don't think I would want to stay here at capacity. The location is on the beach and all sites are a short walk.

Perfect location, except our RV spot was between the jumping pillow and the pirate ship...no need to explain I am sure. Would have given it a 5 star if we were close to the beach. If you have kids perfect RV park.

Beautiful views, friendly staff, clean rooms. The sound side had shallow sandbars, gentle waves, and lots of shells for kids to find. The ocean side is beautiful beach for miles and waves for days. On-site playground, pool, sand volleyball, and basketball. Really great place for the fam.

Love the location, its beautiful property. Location is well maintained nice and clean bathrooms, showers, and pool. People are so welcoming and helpful. Been going to this location for several years. I would have given it a 5 star, but I am not a fan of the Tent and RV combo or parking next to each other. RV take up so much space into the Tent sites and cannot enjoy the overview of the camp site- views blocked and feels so crowded next to each other. It would be nice to have a heated pool. I would still recommend this location.

Loved it. Nice campground with all the amenities. We stayed in a cabin and they are really close together but still, a nice place.
